- I like how she looks perfect even though she's doing gym.

Parents walk in, act like you're asleep.

- Plot twist.

- Oh. Um, I actually didn't see that coming.

That hit me with a curve ball. (chuckles)

I did not see that coming.

- What?! Oh, what?

- I really enjoyed it. (chuckles) It's very entertaining.

- The song's good. I've heard the song before though.

So I was trying to analyze the video.

- The song is-- I feel like it's like a serious song--

not serious, but it just-- I didn't like it. I didn't like it.

And it took me a while to even get what was going on.

And it just kind of distracted from the music,

'cause I was like, "What?"

- (FBE) So there's actually an Easter egg in the video

that a lot of people are talking about. - Okay.

- Is that supposed to be Taylor Swift?

- (FBE) Nothing has been confirmed,

but a lot of people say that it looks like Taylor Swift.

- Huh.

- Oh my gosh. Wait, that's crazy.

I didn't even seen that.

- They're friends, right? So okay, yeah. (giggles)

- I really don't think much of it.

I mean, Selena and Taylor are good friends.

So I mean, she appeared in "Bad Blood."

- I love Easter eggs personally,

whether it's in movie or video games.

I always think they're a really fun thing.

So it's always cool to just look in the background, see like,

"Wait, oh, is that that?"

And then it's like an exciting thing when you see it.

- (FBE) So the plot of this music video

centers around a young girl who is first spying on a man,

who later turns out to be her father,

flirting with a high school basketball coach,

despite being married. And at the end, it's revealed

that the daughter also has a crush on the same coach

that her dad likes as well. What'd you think about the story?

- I mean, it was a very interesting story.

That was a super plot twist for me at the end.

- That's so funny.

It's kind of weird too.

Not weird 'cause she's liking this other girl.

Just weird that she's liking the same person her dad likes.

- Too complicated, and I feel like it kind of matches the song

but not really. When I heard the song first on the radio,

I thought she was talking about a partner.

- It's just so confusing.

At first, I didn't recognize

it was Selena playing all four characters.

Then I'm like, "Wait, the mom looks

exactly the same as the daughter.

And I'm like, "Wait, the mom looks the same as the coach."

Ugh, it's just so many depths and crisscrosses.

- The fact that they're all played by Selena

adds almost like a humorous aspect to it.

So it's less of like an, "Oh, this is really creepy.

They're all fancying the same girl."

Since they're all played by Selena,

it almost turns that really weird situation

into an almost "ha-ha" big misunderstanding!

- I really think that it's cool at the end.

Like, she turned out to be a lesbian.

That's a cool plot twist.

- (FBE) So there's been praise and also criticism

over the lead character, who appears to be lesbian.

Can you talk about when big celebrities

incorporate elements like that? What do you think?

- I mean, personally I don't even think about it,

'cause it's just like, "Oh, okay, whatever. It's just the world."

- It seems to be a thing where people feel like

they have to do it, just to say like, "Oh, we're accepting,"

which is fine if you're accepting.

You don't have to make a political statement

every chance you get.

- It's commendable, and I appreciate it.

But I almost wish it wasn't so commendable.

I wish it wasn't such a novelty. I wish it was done all the time

so it wasn't like, "Wow, congratulations.

Like, LGBTQ representation. Like, you're a star."

You know what I mean? It should just be a thing that happens.

I like how she incorporated it,

'cause it wasn't super "in your face."

It was just like... a thing. It was just like part of it.

- It's really important to have a lot more representation

of a bunch of different sexualities.

But I don't really like the way they handled it

with the kind of inappropriateness of the situation,

which it being a teacher and then a student.

- Any good help towards getting more exposure,

any good help towards getting a positive exposure

with big-name stars I think is great.

It's definitely good for the community.

- I'm the vice president of GSA at my school,

and my younger sister is part of the community and everything.

So I think it's great when people don't try and use it

as like a way to get viral in a sense, you know?

She didn't make it all about like,

"Oh, I'm gay. My character's gay. Oh, praise me because of it."

She alluded to it.

When celebrities use their fame to speak out about stuff

that isn't commonly maybe spoken out about

for people of their status, I think that's awesome.

- (FBE) So finally, can you speak to Selena Gomez

as a celebrity you've grown up with?

And talk about how she continues to evolve

and how you view of her maybe changed over time.

- Oh yeah, completely.

No, I think she's one of the people

who's made a really smooth transition,

'cause she didn't really go overly sexual all at once.

She built almost like a singing career into her Disney life

but then took it just a little bit further

and then a little bit further, and now we're here.

- She made a fair transition without any radical,

weird, crazy changes.

And then throughout the years, her singing has improved.

To certain people, she's still gonna be an icon

for all the significance she's done through her own success.

But for others, she's just like,

"Oh shit, you're doing that now. Cool, good for you."

- No, I've never really followed her whatever,

and I didn't watch any of her shows on Disney Channel.

But I mean, it really is-- she has immensely grown.

And it's really cool to see that someone can achieve their dreams

and just keep going and going and going.

- She also is now a producer of 13 Reasons Why.

So I think that's super cool.

And yeah, her career has just blown up

from when I used to watch Wizards of Waverly Place and be like,

"Oh, she's like my favorite star,"

to now, she's a huge pop star, and she's producing shows.

- Growing up in a world where you're so famous.

She grew up in this world, you know.

It's really easy to just kind of be, like,

using it in the wrong way.

But I think she's using her fame in a really good way

to really support causes and messages that she really is into.

She's doing great, and I support her 100%.

And I love her music. It's great.
