Hello everyone! Do you like Mexican food? Taco is a small round piece of tortilla, filled with different toppings. There are many ways of preparing this traditional dish. Some are made from corn tortillas, and some from wheat. There is also a big variety of toppings to choose from, different salads and pastes. Today’s episode is about a family who makes this delicious food and sells it on the street. Are you adventurous with your food? I like experimenting with different kinds of foods from around the world. These days it is really easy to get food from almost every part of the world. There are even a lot of interesting combinations - for example, Japanese Sushi with Brazilian BBQ or Middle eastern falafel with French cuisine. When I was little it was much harder to find good and cheap exotic food. Most people didn’t know much about foods from other countries, and our daily menu was pretty much the same every day. Today, in almost every city in the world, you can find great Japanese sushi bars, American burger shops, Italian pizzas, Chinese restaurants, middle eastern foods, etc. These foods are much more accessible than before. Head on over and watch the video later to learn more about how Mexican food is being made. But first, let’s have a listen to today’s featured sentence.
[2'00''] Sentence: Texture is different, the flavors are different. Just visually, they're probably some of the prettiest tacos you've ever seen. 口感不同、口味不同,視覺效果也不同。它們可能是你見過最漂亮的塔可 (墨西哥玉米餅)。
1. texture KK[ˋtɛkstʃɚ] IPA/ˈteks.tʃɚ/ n. 質地 / 口感 the quality of something that can be decided by touch; the degree to which something is rough or smooth, or soft or hard
Example: I just love the texture of your long silky hair. 我好喜歡妳長而柔滑的頭髮摸起來的感覺。
2. flavor KK[ˋflevɚ] IPA/ˈfleɪ.vɚ/ n. 口味 how food or drink tastes, or a particular taste itself v. 給...調味 to give a particular taste to food or drink

3. visually KK[ˋvɪʒuəlɪ] IPA/ˈvɪʒ.u.ə.li/ adv. 視覺上地 relating to seeing or appearance
Example: Although this children’s book doesn’t come with any words, it is visually exciting! 雖然這本童書沒有文字,但視覺上十分有趣。
Outro
This family is really amazing. They are working hard to preserve their heritage through food and they also found ways to make the food more modern and accessible to everyone. It’s interesting to see young people innovate like that. For example - offering ordering service through Instagram, and making blue corn tortillas, which are visually more exciting than traditional ones, but still similar in taste. These guys also experiment with different toppings, inventing new flavors and textures, on top of the ones they learnt from their parents and grandparents. This is a great example of how foods can become exciting and new, but at the same time keeping their good old taste. In fact, I think that the same approach can be done with almost anything. From music to architecture, poetry to car design, mixing new ideas with classical ones can be a great recipe for success. So, what’s your favorite type of cuisine? And do you have any ideas on how to make it better? Leave a message under my recording transcript and let me know! Alright guys, hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s episode and see you around!
