It covers our eyelids, lips and faces--some of the most vulnerable parts of our bodies--so maybe it's time we ask the question, what exactly is INSIDE all this makeup that we put on?
The oils are primarily castor oils, extracted from a bean which contains the protein ricin—one of the most toxic substances on this planet which has been used as a biological weapon.
"I can’t go outside without putting on my face." Remind you of anyone you know? The first time I heard someone say that, I had no idea what they were talking about. Then I found out there are people who take makeup so seriously, who wear cosmetics so religiously, that they never go outside without having first made up their face.
But whether your bathroom is filled with makeup products or not, the fact that eyeliner, mascara, lipstick, and more are touching some of the most sensitive parts of your body, I have to wonder–what’s in all these products?
If you’re curious, be sure to check out today’s video. It goes over some of the scarier ingredients previously used in history and some of the current ingredients, which brings us to the Sentence of the Day:
The oils are primarily castor oils, extracted from a bean which contains the protein ricin—one of the most toxic substances on this planet which has been used as a biological weapon. 口紅使用的油是蓖麻油,這種油是從含有蓖麻毒素的豆中萃取出來的,也是其中一個被用來製造生化武器的劇毒物質。

Today’s video reminded me of when I first started wearing makeup. Like many American girls, I started playing around with makeup as a teenager, but even then I wasn’t a huge fan. I had some lip stuff and some eye stuff, nothing major, and because I wasn’t a big user of makeup, my supply lasted years. I had heard that you’re supposed to replace your makeup products every six months, but honestly, I thought that was just stuff that companies say to get you to buy more of their products.
Then, I learned about all the bacteria and microbes that collect and breed in makeup. Think about it. Every time you pull out that mascara wand, apply it to your eyelashes and then put it back in the little tube, the wand is pulling bacteria from your eyelashes and shoving it into the rest of the mascara in the tube. And then you put that bacteria back on the next day? Over how many days, weeks, months, or, in my case, years?! GROSS! I threw out absolutely everything I owned.
So, my dear VoiceTuber, if you’ve learned nothing else from this episode, please, for your own health, think about replacing your makeup products. If you’re putting this stuff around your eyes, mouth and on your skin, it’s worth thinking about, at least more than not at all.
What about you? Are you a big fan of makeup? Are you good about regularly replacing your stuff? Let me know in the comments. And as always, hit that record button when you’re ready with your sentence. Catch ya next time.
