Day 777

(To skip the song, go to 1:54! )

I wish I could tie you up in my shoes
Make you feel unpretty too
I was told I was beautiful
But what does that mean to you
Look into the mirror who's inside there
The one with the long hair
Same old me again today

My outsides are cool
My insides are blue
Every time I think I'm through
It's because of you
I've tried different ways
But it's all the same
At the end of the day
I have myself to blame
I'm just trippin'

You can buy your hair if it won't grow
You can fix your nose if he says so
You can buy all the make-up that MAC can make
But if you can't look inside you
Find out who am I too
Be in a position to make me feel so damn unpretty
I feel pretty
Oh so pretty
I feel pretty and witty and bright

Today’s theme is lightly more serious, so instead of talking about it, I’m going to share a song with you that fits this theme. After the song, there’s a sentence of the day, and after that, be sure to go watch the video. At the end of today’s episode, there will be further explanations of what this song is about. So be sure to listen if you want to know.

1-1. gaze (v./n.)
*For the last exercise, I want you to gaze into your partners’ eyes and tell them you love them.

1-2. stare (v./n.)
*Stop staring! You’re burning a hole through her head.

1-3. glance (v./n.)
*That guy over at the table kept glancing this way. Do you know him?

1-4. glare (v./n.)
*What’s up with that glare? Did(That?) I do something wrong?

2-1. brief (adj.)
*The teacher asked us to give a brief 30-second self introduction, not an hour long speech about yourself.

2-2. briefs 內褲

3. planet (n.)行星
*My friend Katie is such a unique person. It’s like she’s from another planet sometimes.

The song at the beginning is talking how people see themselves by other people’s judgments resulting in(導致) you feeling ugly because someone said so. This is an issue that we should really think about it. Today’s video also talks a lot about this and provides some solutions you need to know.

For the last exercise(在最後ㄧ個練習), I want you to gaze (凝視)into your partner’s eyes and tell them you love them.

Stop staring(不要再盯著看)! You’re burning a hole (你視線要燒出ㄧ個洞)through her head.

That guy over at the tables kept glancing (撇看;掃視)this way. Do you know him?

What’s up with that glare(怒視)?Did I do something wrong?

True teacher asked us to give a brief 30-second self-introduction. Not an hour long speech about ourselves.

My friend Katie is such a unique person. It’s like she’s from another planet(星球) sometimes.

- the fact of showing or watching events or looking at women from a man's point of view
■ A recent series of feminist music videos attempted to challenge the male gaze.

Yet, you gaze in the bathroom mirror and think: Why? In my brief existence on this planet does this have to be me?
