Hello everyone, this’s Heather, the host from Seattle who can also speak Cantonese. I’m guessing you’re listening to our pronunciation challenges because you want to learn English or another language. If so, then today’s video will give you some insight(深刻見解) on learning a new language. So can you speak another language other than English? What is it? Or what languages have you always wanted to learn but haven’t?
I’ve recently wanted to learn Korean because of all the Korean dramas and variety shows I’ve been watching. Before I share how I learn new languages, what I use to find new language exchange partners and the key things you need to learn a language, let’s first go over the featured sentence and vocabulary words.

1.hundred [ˋhʌndrəd] (n; number.) （數字）100/ Hundred is considered a noun and a number in the dictionary. It means the number 100.
* My friend loves scarves, she has over a hundred of them in her closet.
2. polyglot [ˋpɑlɪ͵glɑt] (adj.) 說多種語言的，多種語言混合的/ It means speaking or using several different languages.
* I wonder how many polyglots there are in the world.
3. approach [əˋprotʃ] (n.) （思考問題的）方式，方法，態度/ It means a way of considering or doing something.
* I have a different approach in mind to resolve this problem.
As you may already know, I learn how to speak Mandarin(中國的普通話) through watching a lot of dramas and variety shows, so I think that’s my method of learning a new language.
For Korean, I even picked up some sentences and basic vocabulary words while watching [years of it(them?)], it’s a very slow process for me though. I think one of the most important things while learning a new language is to use it. And personally while learning Mandarin, I have[ went(gone?) on] multiple sites(網址) to find language exchange partners where I can meet face to face, and exchange my English skills with their Mandarin skills.
Out of all the sites I’ve used, I would recommend going on “ conversationexchange.com”. This is a site to allow people from all over the world to find language exchange partners. And you can choose if you want to meet them in person(親自地) through video chat or through writing letters or emails. And on the site, you can find someone that lives in your city or country and you do not have to provide a photo or any details of where you live or how you look like. That’s one thing I really like about this site. You only provide what you want others to know about you. Say your interests, your hobbies, and languages you want to learn and exchange with.
And there is something the speaker said in today’s video that I thought was really interesting, and it is how to turn language learning from a boring school subject into a pleasant activity which you don’t mind doing it every day. I think the sentence(主張，意見) can be applied to a lot of subjects that we learn in school since when we’re in school, we find it very boring [or once we] leave school. Some of these subjects(主題；原因) are lots of interesting because we’re actually interested in it and we’re not forced to do homework or projects related to it.
I hope you will be able to learn the language or the languages you’ve been waiting to learn.
