Now hundreds of people in Israel have paid their last respects at a funeral for the last hostage recovered from Gaza after more than two years of war and grief.

Ranvilli, a 24 year old police officer, was killed while fighting Hamas militants during the October 7 terror attack in 2023.

We can speak now to DW correspondent Tania Kremer, who is at the ceremony taking place in the stadium in Maitre Tanya, can you tell us more about the ceremony, about what's happening there today?

And at the cemetery here, Maytar, his hometown, this is where he set out on the morning of October 7th in 2023, as his family said, to defend his country.

He went to the southern kibbutzim and where he then was shot and killed by militants and his body was then taken to Gaza and it took over two years.

Now he was found, his body was found on Monday.

And what people here were saying while they were listening to eulogies as speech, speeches from the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is here, the president Isaac Howtog is here.

It does certainly bring a sense of closure.

At least that's what a lot of people have been saying here in the past day was very important that this last remaining deceased hostage was brought back home.

But now the question is, you know, the, the focus will turn at least domestically as well, you know, on all the discussions of responsibilities.
