Sorry guys, I have no quote regarding life hacks for this episode! If you can find one, let me know and leave it in the comments! If you do find one, I can maybe record it for you to listen to! So how’s it going, everyone? It’s your host Hubert Tran again with another episode of the Pronunciation Challenge. All you listeners should pay attention to this episode today because we will be covering life hacks! We all love life hacks and some of these are actually very useful! Do you guys have any life hacks that aren't included in this video that you could share? If you do, please leave them in the comments for all of us to enjoy! I actually found the ant one quite useful! If I ever see ants in my apartment again, I’ll make sure to bust out the corn! Alright, let’s get to the featured sentence and come back so we can exchange more life hacks together!
Today’s featured sentence: You can gently cut a few lines vertically, and a few more across, until the pattern resembles a checkerboard.
I’ll say that again.
You can gently cut a few lines vertically, and a few more across, until the pattern resembles a checkerboard.
Ok, now time for the Pronunciation Tips.
For the first word, we have Vertically Four syllables. “VER” has your typical “E R” sound. “TI” has a short “i” sound. With the last two syllables, try to blend “CA” and “LLY” into one to sound something like “KLEE”. Vertically.
Next up, we have Pattern Two syllables “PA” has a short “A” sound and “TTERN” sounds like “turn” like you’re turning around but replace the “T” sound with a “D” sound instead if you want to say it with the North American accent. Pattern.
Lastly, we have, Resemble Three syllables. “RE” has a short “U” sound. “SEM” actually sounds like it starts with a “z” instead of an “S”. “BLE” sounds like the animal, “bull”. Resemble.
Moving onto Vocabulary!
The first word is: 1. Vertical Definition standing or pointing straight up or at an angle of 90° to a horizontal surface or line Used in a sentence you could say, “She looked over a cliff only to realize that she was standing on top of a vertical drop.”
Next word, 2. Pattern Definition a particular way in which something is done, is organized, or happens Used in a sentence, you could say: “I really like the flower pattern on this wallpaper.”
And lastly, 3. Resemble Definition: to look like or be like someone or something Used in a sentence, you could say: “The more I look at you, the more you resemble your mother.”
So which one did you find useful?! I actually have one that you listeners can use! When you shower, does your mirror usually fog up? Well, if you wipe your mirror with dishwashing liquid, it won’t fog up! There’s a complicated reason why this works but to sum it up in one sentence, it pretty much stops water molecules from sticking together. Try it! It really works!
Remember to include any other life hacks in the comments section because I really love learning about more when possible! If you haven’t already, make sure to get your recordings in! Also, follow me on Instagram @hughtran_ if you haven’t already done so! There was a listener who said they preferred shorter episodes so I’ll try to keep them shorter to see how you guys like them! Straight to the point right?! Alright, until next time, see ya!

「啊,好像棋盤似的。」
「我看倒有點像稿紙。」我說。
「真像一塊塊綠豆糕。」一位外號叫「大食客」的同學緊接著說。
我們不禁哄堂大笑,同樣的一塊芒果,每個人卻有不同的感覺。那位朋友連忙把芒果用紙包好,她覺得芒果就是芒果,不是棋盤,也不是稿紙,更不是綠豆糕。
