Hello, VoiceTubers. It’s Nina again. How was your day? "Nice guys finish last." That's what the saying goes. It means that if you want to succeed, you can't be nice. You have to be tough and put your benefits above others. It seems like successful people are always those selfish and "mean" ones. Being nice and friendly can't help you succeed or win. But is it really like this? You might be surprised by the result. According to the famous experiment "Prisoner's Dilemma," nice guys actually win more in the long term. Want to know why nice guys win at the end? Watch today's video to learn more about the "Prisoner's Dilemma" and why nice guys finish first.

Sentence

But we’re here to destroy this myth and show you with scientific research and evidence how nice guys, undoubtedly, finish first.

Pronunciation tips

1. myth (the pronunciation of "y" and "th")
2. scientific (the pronunciations of the "i"s)
3. undoubtedly (the "b" is silent)

Vocabulary

1. myth n. [mɪθ] /mɪθ/
a commonly believed but false idea
Eg. I don't believe in the myth of love at first sight.

2. evidence n. [ˋɛvədəns] /ˈev.ə.dəns/
one or more reasons for believing that something is or is not true
Eg. You should not accuse someone without evidence.

3. undoubtedly adv. [ʌnˋdaʊtɪdlɪ] /ʌnˈdaʊ.t̬ɪd.li/
very likely; almost certainly
Eg. It was undoubtedly the best peach pie in the whole town.

Alright, that's all for today's episode. I am genuinely surprised that the nicer guys actually would win at the end. I've always thought that it's the opposite way. And even in the animal world, the nicer ones win too. Animals with genes that promote nice behavior are likely to have more offspring. I guess that's how we keep our species living, and we need to rely on each other. While some mean, envious or devious people may temporarily seem more successful than others, in the long run, nice people really do finish first. So, after telling all of these, I guess what I have to say is – Be a nice guy! Most importantly, don't forget to record today's sentence and leave a comment. Hope you've enjoyed today's content. I'm Nina, see you next time.

■undoubtedly [ʌnˋdaʊtɪdlɪ] (adv.)
■Nice guys finish last.
