It was often found being passed around the battlefields in the bloody aftermath, and it was frequently used as an antiseptic.

和大家報告一下目前的進度:
公司在 19號早上將試譯的題目寄到我的信箱裡了,期限是在72小時內將8篇翻譯翻完寄回,裡面有5篇英翻中及3篇中翻英,難度我覺得挺高的,雖然問面試過的同學說覺得題目還好,但我覺得我收到的題目真的蠻難的呀....光一題就翻一兩個小時了。

總之,我會繼續加油的!

☺It was often found being passed around the battlefields in the bloody aftermath, and it was frequently used as an antiseptic.

... If you’re old enough to drink, what is your favorite alcohol? Do you like to drink whiskey? And if you’re not old enough to drink yet, are you curious about the taste of alcohol and how it might make you feel?

battlefield [ˋbæt!͵fild] (n.) 戰場,戰地
It means a place where a battle is being fought or has been fought in the past.
* People in the military have to go to battlefields and do things that we could never imagine ourselves doing.

aftermath [ˋæftɚ͵mæθ] (n.) (不愉快事件)結束後的一個時期;(不愉快事件的)後果
It means the period that follows an unpleasant event or accident and the effects that it causes.
* The aftermath of fighting in a war is usually honor and trauma.

antiseptic [͵æntəˋsɛptɪk] (n.) 防腐劑;殺菌劑,消毒劑
It means a chemical used for preventing infection in an injury, especially by killing bacteria.
* Most people use antiseptic wipes on their wounds before putting a band-aid over it.

… To answer the question I asked at the beginning of the pronunciation challenge. I personally prefer tequila, whiskey, and brandy. Beer is also okay but I prefer lighter beers like [[? Liqueur]] which you can commonly find in Asia. On the other hand, the Pacific Northwest or where I’m from in Seattle often make or brew(釀造) [[ IPS which are Indian? ]] , they are usually more bitter and dark.

An interesting thing that I’ve noticed is that many Asian people have something called “ Asian glow” (亞洲紅臉症) which one their face turns red when they drink alcohol.

And many are “ light weight drinkers” meaning they drink very little and they will become drunk.

And lastly for people like this, they are what some people call “a cheap date“, which is not to mean anything negative from the word cheap. It just means that if you go out a date with them, you don’t have to spend a lot of money paying for their alcohol.

I wonder if this research was done to persuade people to drink more.

My family in Seattle actually has an area where they store different kinds of alcohols. And that’ve noticed that if I have a very terrible cough even after I’ve tried talking medicine, sleep more, eating better, if none of those work, I’ve tried drinking whiskey, and it usually kills it within a few days.

Wait, so I’m not trying to convince anyone to drink whiskey, but I am saying that it does have some kind of a medicinal effect that I can’t really explain.

Well, that’s it. Please drink responsibly, don’t drink and drive.

Thanks for listening and please record yourself saying the featured sentence. I look forward to seeing your replies for this pronunciation challenge.

I wonder what kind of alcohols you like to drink, or which one you’re curious about.

Thank you, Heather.
