Hi Voicetubers. Did you know that marriage rates around the world? Have been falling in the last few years, not only that, but people are also getting marriage at the old age than before, many people are choosing to get married when they’re in their 30s or 40s, or sometime even choose to not get married at all.

Single parenting is also more common, and has been under rise around the world as well. And short, marriage trend show that social institutions can’t and often do change quickly, no wonder them that young people these days are confused, they’re not sure they should follow in the footsteps of their elders, get married and have kids at a young age.

Or maybe choose and you path for themselves. So why idea that has been suggested in this voice video it’s experiencing marriage life for short time before committing to it permanently. Some people are willing to experiment and spend a week with another person just to see how they feel about living with someone else. Marriage life is definitely a serious commitment. It makes sense that some people when intimidated by it. But I think maybe the solution should be trying at a long-term relationship first and not a short-term fake marriage. Anyway, let’s have a look at our sentence of the day.

There have gotta be moments where you have panic about like, "Oh my god, I just sign up for the rest of my life!"
你肯定時不時會有一種恐懼感,就好像 「天啊,我剩下的人生難道就要這樣繼續下去了嗎!」
Now let’s get into the sentence slowly
1. there have
2. gotta be
3. for the
4. rest of

There have gotta be moments where you have panic about like, "Oh my god, I just sign up for the rest of my life!"
你肯定時不時會有一種恐懼感,就好像 「天啊,我剩下的人生難道就要這樣繼續下去了嗎!」

Alright, let’s look at vocabulary words
1. panic [ˋpænɪk] (n.)恐慌,驚慌
: a sudden strong feeling of fear that prevents reasonable thought and action
>No need to panic, it’s just a fire drill, we don’t need to evacuate the building.
別恐慌,這只是一個消防演習,我們不需要撤離大樓。

2. sign up (ph.)註冊;報名登記;簽約;簽署;簽名
: to agree to become involved in an organized activity
>Don’t forget to sign up for the debating club by Friday noon.
別忘了在星期五中午前報名參加辯論社。

3. the rest 其餘者
rest : to (cause someone or something to) stop doing a particular activity or stop being active for a period of time in order to relax and get back your strength

the rest : the other things, people, or parts that remain or that have not been mentioned
>John, Peter and Grag, please go and runs five more run of the fields ,the rest of your can take a rest.
John, Peter和Grag請你們再跑操場五圈,剩下的人可以再休息一下。

So how do you feel about this little experiment? Do you think that spending week with someone can really give a good understanding of what marriage life is like? I think that marriage is more than just having fun together, although that’s definitely also big part of it. It also means compromising and helping each other, having someone to share nice moments with, and also having someone to lean on in time of need.

It’s probably a good idea to be pretty sure that the person you’re about to spend the rest of your life with, it’s trustworthy, so it makes sense to live with them for a while before making the commitment of marriage. In some societies, the age of marriage is very young and sometimes the need is, don’t even get to choose who to marry, in many cases, this decision is up to the family or matchmakers, the bribe and groom are left to hope that the person they’re marring is someone they want to live with for many years, and what’s of yours on marriage?

Do you want to get married? Or perhaps you are ready marry and have a few tips to share with those that are still thinking about it? Thanks for listening guys, and remember when you’re recording this sentence later, you can try to imitate the ‘’Oh my god, what of I’v got myself into tones and voice’’ and give the sentence some character, have fun, and I’ll see you around next week.

So how do you feel about this little experiment? Do you think that spending week with someone can really give a good understanding of what marriage life is like? I think that marriage is more than just having fun together, although that’s definitely also big part of it. It also means compromising(妥協,折衷) and helping each other, having someone to share nice moments with, and also having someone to lean on(依靠) in time of need. It’s probably a good idea to be pretty sure that the person you’re about to spend the rest of your life with, it’s trustworthy(可靠的), so it makes sense to live with them for a while before making the commitment of marriage. In some societies, the age of marriage is very young and sometimes the {?newly weds} don’t even get to choose who to marry. In many cases, this decision is up to the family or matchmakers(媒人), the bribe and groom are left to hope that the person they’re marring is someone they want to live with for many years, and what {are your views} on marriage? The script!
Intro:
Hi VoiceTubers, did you know that marriage rates around the world have been falling in the last few years? Not only that, but people are also getting married at an older age than before. Many people are choosing to get married when they are in their thirties or forties, or sometimes they even choose to not get married at all. Single parenting is also more common and has been on the rise around the world as well. In short, marriage trends show that social institutions can, and often do change quickly.
No wonder then, that young people these days are confused. They are not sure if they should follow in the footsteps of their elders, get married and have kids at a young age, or maybe choose a new path for themselves. So one idea that has been suggested in this week’s video, is experiencing marriage life for a short time before committing to it permanently. Some people are willing to experiment and spend a week with another person, just to see how they feel about living with someone else. Marriage life is definitely a serious commitment. It makes sense that some people are intimidated by it. But I think maybe the solution should be trying out a long-term relationship first, and not a short-term fake marriage.

Anyway, let’s have a look at our sentence of the day:

Sentence:
There have gotta be moments where you have panic about like, "Oh my god, I just signed up for the rest of my life!"
你肯定時不時會有一種恐懼感,就好像 「天啊,我剩下的人生難道就要這樣繼續下去了嗎!」

(Slow Version of the sentence)
Note these linking words
- there have
- gotta be = got to be
- for the
- rest of

Vocabulary:

1. panic (n.) 恐慌
KK:[ˋpænɪk] IPA: /ˈpæn.ɪk/
Definition: a sudden strong feeling of fear that prevents reasonable thought and action

Example:
No need to panic! It’s just a fire drill. We don’t need to evacuate the building.
別恐慌! 這只是一個消防演習。我們不需要撤離大樓。

2. sign up 報名參加
Definition: to agree to become involved in an organized activity

Example:
Don’t forget to sign up for the debating club by Friday noon.
別忘了在星期五中午前報名參加辯論社。

3. the rest KK: [rɛst] IPA: /rest/ 剩下
Definition:
The word ‘rest’ means to cause someone or something to stop doing a particular activity or stop being active for a period of time in order to relax and get back your strength.

‘The rest’ means the other things, people, or parts that remain or that have not been mentioned.

Example:
John, Peter, and Greg, please go and run five more rounds of the field. The rest of you can take a rest.
John, Peter 和 Greg,請你們再跑操場五圈。剩下的人可以休息一下。

Outro:
So how do you feel about this little experiment? Do you think that spending a week with someone can really give a good understanding of what marriage life is like? I think that marriage is more than just having fun together, although that’s definitely also a big part of it. It also means compromising and helping each other, having someone to share nice moments with and also having someone to lean on in time of need. It’s probably a good idea to be pretty sure that the person you are about to spend the rest of your life with is trustworthy. So it makes sense to live with them for a while before making the commitment of marriage. In some societies the age of marriage is very young, and sometimes the newlyweds don’t even get to choose who to marry. In many cases this decision is up to the family or matchmakers. The bride and groom are left to hope that the person they are marrying is someone they’d want to live with for many years.

What are your views on marriage? Do you want to get married or perhaps you are already married and have a few tips to share with those that are still thinking about it?

Thanks for listening guys and remember, when you are recording the sentence later, you can try and imitate the ‘OMG-what-have-I-got-myself-into’ tone of voice and give the sentence some character! Have fun and I’ll see you around next week!
