[Intro]
Hello, Voicetubers, this is Ashley. Today we're talking about pigeons. I personally like pigeons. I like to see them waddle (搖搖晃晃地走) around with their adorably (可愛的) plump (微胖的) bodies. Their iridescent (虹彩斑斕的) necks that shine green and purple always fascinate me. However, some consider them disgusting and annoying since they carry germs and often take up squares and parks. Why are pigeons everywhere? There are some reasons for that, which we can find out in the video. But before that, here's our sentence of the day:

In 1972, the Environmental Protection Agency banned DDT, and as a result: "Those predators are now moving back into the city."

[Vocab]
1. environmental (adj.) 環境的
The environmental activist urges world leaders take immediate action against climate change.

2. ban (v.) 禁止
The film is banned in several countries since it mentions some sensitive racial and religious issues.

Sea ban was a series of policies that China implemented in the Ming and Qing Dynasty, isolating itself from other countries and restricting international trade.

3. predator (n.)
Although many believe predators cause great harm to prey animals, they play an important role in maintaining a healthy and balanced ecosystem.

[Outro]
Okay, so that's it for our vocabulary. Remember, don't feed your feathered friends, even if you love pigeons. They are animals anyway, and they are not supposed to rely on humans for food. Otherwise, they might get into the habit of gathering around, and can even be aggressive to those who feed them! What do you guys think about these winged(長翅膀的) city dwellers? Do you enjoy seeing them around or just wanna yell "Goodbye and good-riddance!" (這句話有點像中文的「慢走不送!」) at them? Comment below and leave your recordings. I'll see you next week, bye!

Ashley形容的”Their iridescent necks that shine green and purple..”
1:06 If you stay up late for a test preparation then you will be totally famished([ˋfæmɪʃt]a.
1:23 Today we’re talking about pigeons([ˋpɪdʒɪn]n. I personally like pigeons, I like to see them waddle([ˋwɑd!]v.搖搖擺擺地走) around with their adorably([əˋdorəblɪ]adv.可愛地) plump(a. Their iridescent([ɪrɪˋdɛsənt]a.色彩斑斕的) necks that shine green and purple always fascinate me.

+ iridescent [ɪrɪˋdɛsənt] a.

However, some consider them disgusting and annoying since they carry germs(n.病菌) and often take up(佔據) squares(n.廣場) and parks. Why are pigeons everywhere? There are some reasons for that which we can find out in the video. But before that, here’s our sentence of the day: In 1972, the Environmental Protection Agency banned DDT, and as a result: "Those predators are now moving back into the city."

1. environmental [ɪnˌvaɪrənˈmɛntəl] (adj.)環境的

Although many(很多人) believe predators cause great harm to prey([pre]n.被捕食的動物) animals, they play an important role in maintaining(v.維持) a healthy and balanced(a.平衡的) ecosystem.

7:22 Remember, don’t feed {your feathered([ˋfɛðɚd]a.有羽毛的)} friends even if(即使) you love pigeons, there’re animals anyway, and they are not supposed to(應當的) rely on(依賴) humans for food. Others, they might get into the habit of gathering around and can even be aggressive(a.侵略性的) to those who have food on their hands. What do you guys think about these {winged(a.有翅膀的) city dwellers([ˋdwɛlɚ]n. Do you enjoy seeing them around? Or just wanna yell: “ Goodbye and good-riddance!“(慢走不送) at them?
