Transcript => Today is the last day of the year and unfortunately also my last episode of hosting a pronunciation challenge. It’s been {a wild ride(狂野的旅程)}, I left to study abroad and came back hosting because of COVID, and now I’m starting online classes, very soon, I will be leaving once again. I don’t know {what the future holds(未來會怎樣)}, but who knows? Maybe I’ll back again if my future schedule allows and if I’m needed here. Regardless(adv.無論如何) I’m going to miss you guys so much. Speaking of singing, at the end of today’s pronunciation challenge, I’ll be singing a song called “Happy New Year ” by the famous popular group ABBA, be sure to listen till the end. Before that, let’s practice today’s sentence: A plan breaks up your resolution in small achievable chunks and has many rewards along the way.

1-1. resolution [͵rɛzəˋluʃən] (n.)決心；決定；（會議等的）正式決定，決議[C]
+ make a resolution(決心) to V
*I made a resolution to stop eating fried chicken.
My New Year's resolution is to learn a new skill.

+ to pass(通過)/adopt(採用)/ approve(批准) a resolution(決議)
-> We have passed a resolution to build a new laboratory(n.實驗室)

2-1. achievable [əˋtʃivəb!] (adj.)（任務等）可完成的；可達到的；可實現的
+ achievable goal/status/standard
*You need to be realistic([rɪəˋlɪstɪk]a.實際的) and set up an achievable goal.

2-2. achieve [əˈʧiv ] (v.)= attain [əˋten] = accomplish（尤指經過努力）完成；達到；實現
+ to achieve(完成) success/a result/a goal/an objective(目標)/an aim(目標)
*He achieved his ideal weight in less than 3 months which is less time than he expected.(比預期的時間還短)
+ All you've achieved(贏得) is to upset my parents.

3. chunk [tʃʌŋk] (n.)一部分；（尤指）大部分，一大塊
+ a chunk of cheese (一大塊起司)
*Scott put a chunk of raw(a.生的) meat on his friend’s seat as a prank(n.惡作劇).

4-1. reward [rɪˋwɔrd] (n.)報答；報償；酬謝；獎賞
+ reward for doing sth
*The reward for winning the singing competition is a thousand dollars.

4-2. reward [rɪˋwɔrd] (v.)報答；報償；獎賞
+ reward sb with sth (以某事物做為報償)
*The finder(n.尋獲者) of the lost iPhone will be rewarded with cash.

+ reward sb for sth (因某事物而得到報償)
-> She was rewarded for her efforts with a cash bonus(n.紅利).

制訂一個計畫就可將你所定下的新年新希望切割成幾個容易達成的小目標，而且在執行的過程中，你會因為完成這些小目標而獲得成就感。
