說到生涯規劃和工作經驗，想和大家分享一個好消息。

在昨天下午的時候，引薦我去面試她公司的小組長跟我說公司決定給我 offer ，下禮拜就會請我到公司去找 HR 簽紙本的 offer 契約書。

我的職位是招募顧問，其實就是獵人頭公司的顧問，負責幫企業找人，同時也幫求職者找工作的。但我們的工作內容不包含幫企業砍求職者薪水，我們會盡量取得雙方都能接受的薪資，畢竟台灣薪水已經夠低了。

其實昨天面試一直有點沒信心，雖然面試都是聊天的形式，但面試終究是面試，再加上他們都不斷提醒我這份工作其實壓力不小，幸運的是裡面的人都還蠻好的（自己相處起來覺得）。
但我想說的是，工作哪有沒壓力的，又輕鬆又沒壓力的通常薪水都很低，輕鬆沒壓力薪水又高的通常同事都很78讓你待不下去。
所以我倒覺得不如做自己沒那麼討厭的，因為要找到自己很喜歡的工作通常是不可能啦。
最後我想說一下大家好奇的，外商公司是不是都要英文很好，公司是新加坡商公司，其實面試倒沒有用到英文也沒有要求你英文要多好，但我從旁邊的同事們給我的感覺還有自己有聽到一些英文，我認為大家英文程度應該是和我差不多，甚至覺得有不少人英文都比我強很多的。

總之，外商公司不一定會看你英文好不好，但我們客戶也有來自其他地區的。所以真的需要使用就會逼迫自己進步，而不是一定要強迫你達到什麼水準。

最後，被通知拿到 offer 的當下我已經開始在想要怎麼樣才可以符合公司的期待，能夠順利的熬過前期了。也感謝大家不斷鼓勵我和給我建議，真的非常感謝大家。

Welcome come back to another pronunciation challenge! I’m Steve, your host here to tell you about the worst jobs ever. Yeah, I hope you’re ready to explore another pronunciation challenge with me. So relax, kick back, and get ready to learn.
Worst jobs! That is what today’s video is all about, it’s a funny and sad topic at the same time. There are a lot of bad jobs out there. If you’re a student, maybe you don’t know about bad jobs yet, but I bet most of you can tell me about bad jobs you had in the past. In fact, I would love for you tell me about the worst jobs in the comment section below, please post your worst jobs. [[ Did you flip ]] burgers? Clean poop? Have a boss? Get pay almost nothing? Share your worst job story, and I will share mine at the end of the challenge.

Alright, here is today’s challenge. “ I went underneath the fryer with a spatula, scraping away four inches of grease.” Alright, let’s take a look at the pronunciation for a second. So the first thing you can do is take a quick pause after spatula. Now, this’s a pretty straight forward sentence, so don’t take a long pause, make sure the pause is short. I went underneath the fryer with a spatula, scraping away four inches of grease. Did you hear the really short pause there? If you make the pause too long, it will sound awkward, because this’s just one sentence.

Now, the second thing to note is “scraping away four inches of grease.” is the word emphasis in this sentence should be, that’s where the action in the sentence is, and that is the exciting part of the sentence in a more emotion part for the speaker. In English, we often make it more emotional or strong part of sentence where the focuses much louder. So you should say “scraping away four inches of grease.“ more louder than the resident sentence. So “ I went underneath the fryer with a spatula, scraping away four inches of grease.” So, it’s not much louder but that’s just where the emphasis is.

My last last pronunciation tip is with the word spatula[ˋspætjələ], it’s three syllables, spatula. And you’re probably looking at that t sound, like what? That doesn’t sound like t. Now, the word spatula is actually kinda sound like ch[tʃ] sound. Something like it here in the word, chat or chair, spatula. So while you see the t, it’s kinda sound like ch, so be careful with that word. Alright, let’s move on to the vocabulary.

1. underneath [ʌndɚˋniθ] (prep.)在…底下；在…下面; (adv.) 在底下; (adj.)下面的; (n.) 下面，底部
Underneath is a preposition, and it means under or below. Check out this example sentence.
* I have to go the underneath the kitchen sink to kill the cockroach that was hiding in the corner.
So you went underneath the kitchen sink. So a lot of you are probably thinking, what? Underneath is a such a easy word, or what is the deference between under and underneath? Well, that is why this word is on our vocabulary list today. And that’s what makes it tricky, it is actually a little bit different than under. Under can use be use in all circumstances, under the car, under the light. But underneath technically means something is covered, so you can’t say underneath the light, or you should say underneath light because the light is not really covered. But you can say underneath the table since it is covered by a wooden top, and maybe a table cloth. Or I’m wearing a T-shirt underneath my jacket. The T-shirt is covered by jacket. So underneath would sound a little bit better than under in this case, though you can still use under.

Now, there’s a third option that some of you might know, the word is beneath. What is beneath? Beneath means the same thing as underneath, it’s just more formal and literally. So you might hear something that like beneath the ocean, or beneath the ground. This means the same thing as underneath, it’s just that underneath is more casual, and beneath is more formal and literally. So you might see beneath in a book or a poem. But if you are talking, we say either under or underneath. Don’t worry about this too much though, most people tend to use underneath and under interchangeably([ɪntɚˋtʃendʒəblɪ]可替換地), without thinking about three all meaning. So chances are that nobody is going to call you out for using the wrong one, but I would say if you aren’t sure, just use under since that’s always safe. But you understand the difference between under and underneath, you can definitely make your English speaking and writing more interesting in diverse.

Lastly, I wanna point out the underneath can also be a noun and adverb. But if it’s follow by a noun, like in this sentence, “underneath the fryer”, it’s the preposition.

2. scrape [skrep] (v.)去除；刮；擦
Scrap is a verb. Check out the definition, to remove an unwanted covering or a top layer from something, especially using a sharp edge or something rough. So scraping is sort of like robbing something, but really hard, it’s more intense and strong. So listen to this example.
* I always have to scrape the ice off my car in the winter before I can drive.
So if you’re use to winter and snow, you’ll know that the car takes a long time to start up. And sometimes you can’t even open the doors because the ice is all over the car, so you need to scrape it off to get your car open and to [[ be able to see out ]] your windows. So think about washing dishes, you need to scrape all the old food off the pots and pans before you can cook with them again.

3. grease [gris] (n.)油，油脂；油膩狀物
Its definition is animal or vegetable fat that is soft after melting, or more generally, any thick oil-like substance. So it’s basically something is made from oil or animal fat. So here is the example sentence.
* I don’t like that pizza because it always has too much grease.
So grease is really kind of disgusting, gross word. It’s founded a lot of bad food like mainly fried food or [[ oil is used ]]. Think about pizza, or fried chicken, or french fries. All of these foods can be very greasy. And grease is usually not considered to be a good thing, it usually means that there’s too much oil, or the cooking wasn’t really done right, or they are just really low quality ingredients. Ingredients are what you use to make something. So if you want to make a pizza, the ingredients could be bread dough, cheese, vegetables, meat. So when we use bad ingredients, or very low quality ingredients, we cannot put a lot of grease.

Okay, it’s the end, guys. Now, I need to tell you about my worst job. I worked at Dunkin’ Donuts, which is a major cafe chain in the USA. I made very little money, almost minimum wage([wedʒ]薪水). I often worked overtime, and I [[ dealt ]] with customers all day long. But it was very robotic, I basically just said, “ Hello, How are you? What would you like today? Here is your change. Thanks! Have a nice day!” Now, that might not sound so bad, but imagine saying that like 150 times in 30 minutes, or 500 times in 6 hours. And now you just say over and over again, and because they want customers to go get their coffee very fast and leave, they don’t want you to talk to customers too much. Now when I was there, the bosses were also really mean, they [[ swore at ]] employees, they told [[ us how slow ]] and bad [[ we were at ]] our jobs, and [[ to top it all off更糟的是(或更棒的是) ]] I always [[ smell like ]] donuts [[ and my diet was just]] absolutely terrible. I ate donuts and bakes stuff all day long, and I drank espresso, way too much coffee and espresso every day. (It is) The only job [[I’ve ever]] actually just quit, I came in on Friday, and I just said I’m not coming back again. So I quit and that was it.
