At the beginning, I needed to escape the conventions that surrounded me, which meant that I needed to think for myself.

1.1 escape [əˋskep] (v.) 逃脫；逃跑
It means to get free of or to get away from.
This government program helps people escape from poverty. So that means it helps them get out of poverty. Or you could say something like, for me, playing video games is a way to escape reality. So you get away from reality by playing video games. And escape this word can also have a kind of more literal meaning, it can mean to actually get free from a dangerous situation or a bad place. For example, everyone escaped from a burning building. So there is a burning building and people inside of it. If they get out that building, they have escaped that building.
1.2 break from (phr.) 脫離
It means to end a relationship or a connection or an agreement with someone or something. Dann broke from tradition when he decided to open his own business rather than taking over family company.
1.3 break loose (phr.) 掙脫；甩掉
It means to get away from someone or something by using effort or some kind of force. We often use break loose with from. So we would say break loose from something.
For example, the criminal broke loose from the handcuffs. So that would mean he literally got his hands out of the handcuffs, he broke loose; he broke out of the handcuffs. Or you could say something like she wants to break loose from societal expectations. So in this case, she is not literally using her mind, her force to get out of something but she is trying to get out of something. That is less literal, she is trying to get out of expectations. So she wants to get away or break loose from these expectations.
2.1 convention [kənˋvɛnʃən] (n.) 慣例，習俗
It means a way of acting or doing things that’s considered usual or correct. The example sentence could be: The woman challenge social comments of that time by choosing to not get married. A long time ago, women all expected to get married. This was a social convention or part of social conventions of that time.
2.2 conventional [kənˋvɛnʃən!] (adj.) 慣例的，符合習俗的
The Conventional is the adjective form of convention. It means following convention. So it’s usual or something likes common and ordinary. For example, the company wants to stick to conventional marketing methods like television commercials. So here conventional marketing methods would be marketing methods that they are considered traditional or common or usual.
2.3 unconventional [͵ʌnkənˋvɛnʃən!] (adj.)不依慣例的，不符合習俗的
Unconventional is just the opposite of conventional. So it is not traditional and it is not common. For example, you can say: The artist lives the unconventional lifestyle. That would mean his lifestyle is not usual, not many people live this type of lifestyle. So it is unconventional
3.1 surround [səˋraʊnd] (v.) 圍繞
It means to be all around someone or something. For example, you can say the garden is surrounded by a fence. That would mean the garden has a fence all around it. Or you could say: Being surrounded by negativity put me in the bad mood.
3.2 surroundings [səˋraʊndɪŋz] (n.) 環境；周圍的事物；周圍的情況
You need s here for it to be this noun. Your surroundings are the places, or the objects, or the conditions that are around you; basically, it’s your environment. So example sentence could be: When walking in the woods, you should always be aware of your surroundings. So when we say ‘you should be aware of your surroundings’, it means that you should look around your environment, you should know who is around you, or what is around you and what’s happening to make sure that you’re safe.

最近已經好幾則口說挑戰都在討論成功的意義，引用今日影片的一句話：You have to be an independent thinker because only you can develop your own principles based on your own values.
我認為重要的是具有獨立思考的能力，能夠自己為自己做決定並且有付諸實現的勇氣。

Willing to try and doing form learning is important. I am not sure it's important for success or not because I've not really get success yet. So, I can't tell for sure. Btw, I am going to start a new job today, and that is a whole new field for me, wish me luck.
