大多數的人都聽過「孔子」這個名號，也知道他說過許多至理名言，但論及他所傳授的理念對這個世界的深遠影響，就只有非常少數的人真正瞭解他是個什麼樣的人，他到底說過了什麼話，以及他話語背後的含意。
【心得】要把孔子說得話真正的意涵原封不動的轉換為英文那真的是難上加難，尤其是有些話不只是字面上的意思，往往隱含中華文化的背景在內。

原來今天的主題是Johnny Walker(走路的仲尼)的故事啊！

「曰」就是「說」的意思，用said就可以了吧！

☆原來三聲和四聲的英文是third tone and fourth tone
☆「子」要唸third tone
☆所以「孟」唸成third tone的話，為了好唸，會跟「孔」一樣唸成second tone
☆所以Samuel的「孟子」聽起來變成third tone and light tone

Hi everyone, my name is Sam and welcome to today’s pronunciation challenge. The challenge we’re going to looking at today comes from the video called who was Confucius? That’s a TED video and this question who was Confucius may seem like a kind of obvious question probably to most of the listeners here. But to many people around the world they probably have been influenced by his philosophy and his thinking but they may not know whole about him and that’s the video talks about. So if you are interested in that kind of things, of course, I invite you to watch the video and on this time, we’re going to move onto the challenge.

這個名字家喻戶曉，他說過許多至理名言，但是說到他對這個世界的深遠影響，只有為數不多的人對孔子這個人，他說過的話，以及他話語背後的真實含意， 有著深刻的理解。

1 . recognize 認出、承認

recognize [ˋrɛkəg͵naɪz] (v.) 認出、承認
When they hear this name, they know who you are talking about.
When looking at something physical by acknowledging, you know what it is.
Wow, you look so different; I barely even recognize you.
哇喔，你看起來好不一樣；我幾乎認不出你來了。

recognition [͵rɛkəgˋnɪʃən] (n.) 賞識、認出
I’m glad that his work has finally earned the recognition that he deserves.
我很高興他的傑作最後獲得他應得的賞識。

2 . consider 考慮、認為

consider [kənˋsɪdɚ] (v.) 考慮、認為
Did you consider the fact that we have many foreign guests?
你有考慮到我們目前有許多外國客人的狀況嗎？

considerate [kənˋsɪdərɪt] (adj.) 體貼的、體諒的
thoughtful; empathetic

你有把某物納入考慮嗎？
consider something = take something into consideration

3 . impact 影響、衝擊

impact [ɪmˋpækt] (n.) 影響、衝擊
Her books had a great impact on American society.
她的書對於美國社會的影響力很大。

Confucius had a great impact on a lot of world.
孔子對於很多的國家有深遠的影響。

impactful [ˈɪmpaktf(ʊ)l] (adj.) 有影響力

4 . Confucius 孔子

Confucius [kənˋfjuʃəs] (n.) 孔子
孔子在國際間的名聲響亮，幾乎眾所皆知，不過極少外國人能引用他的經典名言。然而中國人或是台灣人卻能將一些經典名言運用地爐火純青。

Mencius [ˋmɛnʃɪəs] (n.) 孟子

捷運上趕著打⋯先這樣好了。Bu the way, I suspect that 曰 ＂equates to the word “說” that also means “said that” in English.| When looking at something physical by acknowledging, you know what it is or who that person is. For example, you can say : Wow, you look so different, I barely even recognize you.| For “recognize” can also be used in very sort of official context. For example, if you go overseas, they may not recognize your certificates/degree. For example, um... which I know is a big problem in many places around the world. When immigrants and expatriates move somewhere, their education certificates all of sudden invalid. But anyway, there’s another way you can use this word. You can say something is recognized, not recognized. That’s a sort of an official meaning of the word.| I’m glad his work finally earned recognition that he deserves. I mean maybe for a long time, people really didn’t know much about this person’s work. It’s kind of (being) overlooked or underrated.| Have you considered the fact that....Did you consider the fact we have many foreign guests? That just means (that) when you are planning for this or did you add some points, think about that? Did they play a part in your thought process or whatever event this may be.| Someone is considerate=They are thoughtful.| Did you take something into consideration?| Her books had a great impact on American society.| He delivered a very impactful speech.|
