Hi guys welcome to today's Pronunciation Challenge, and my name is Kristi.
So, it's a Sunday and I know a lot of you had to work yesterday and for us, Voicetube, we were working as well.
Uhm... but still today we have a video and it's called "Colton Haynes Receives the HRC Visibility Award".
So if you guys are familiar with uhm... movie series... westen movie series such as "Teen Wolf" or the "Arrow", you would definitely know him, because is the one of the most important eh... characters in those two series.
Uhm...but anyway let's take a look at today's sentence:

We all know that there are many other ways, many other people who have come before me and blazed the trail as LGBT advocates and role models. And I'm walking in their shoes and I'm following in their lead. Instead, I'll accept this award as a promise.

那我們要來看的第一個字呢，就是
Blaze (n.) 火焰；火災；燃燒 [bleyz]
它的"a"是發"e"的音。*跟Cake一樣*
[Blaze the trail.]=
[首開先例。]，有點像是之前沒有人走過這條路，那身為第一個要來嘗試的呢，就會需要稍微開路一下。

那還有跟它長得很像的字呢，就是
Blazer (n.) 正裝夾克 [bley-zer]
它其實跟火焰完全無關，指的就是正裝夾克的意思。
[I think that dress would go really nice with the Blazer.]=
[我覺得那件洋裝搭上正裝外套一定很好看。]
正裝夾克長得有點像是西裝外套，可是又沒有這麼西裝的感覺，可能比較薄這樣子。

那還有一個跟他們長有點像的一個單字是
Blast (n.) 狂歡 [blahst]
它的"a"是發"æ"的音。
[Have a Blast.]=[Have fun.]=
[玩得盡興。]
[A: "I am going to the State for two weeks." ; B: "Oh, have a Blast!"]=
[A：「我要去美國兩周。」；B：「喔，好好地玩!」]

Trial (n.) 試用 [trahy-uh l]
它的"rial"是要先發"aɪ"再發"əl"的音。
[My trial has pass steel, and now I have to buy the original version.]=
[我的試用期過了，所以我只能去買正式版的了。]

那還有跟它長得特別像的呢有另外一個字
Trail [trel] (n.) 小徑 [treyl]
它的"ai"是發"e"的音。
[We were hiking along the trail, when we saw that street dog.]=
[我們在登山的小徑上看見一隻流浪狗。]

再來我們要來看的是下面這些字，他們常被列出來變"LGBTQ"，泛指同性戀跟在社會上比較弱勢的這些人，這五個字它們分別代表
Lesbian (n.) 女同性戀 [lez-bee-uh n]
Gay (n.) (男) 同性戀 [gey]
Bisexual (adj.) 雙性的 [Bahy-sek-shoo-uh l]
Transgender (adj.) 變性的 [trans-jen-der]
Queer (adj.) 奇特的，稱「酷兒」[kweer]
酷兒可能在社會上比較不被接受，他們的行為舉止可能對大家來說都比較特立獨行。

再來還有
Advocate (n.) 提倡者 [ad-vuh-kit]； (v.) 提倡 [ad-vuh-keyt]
它的"cate"只有發短音"kɪt"的音；"o"發短音"ə"的音。
他除了名詞，也可以當動詞「提倡」的意思。
[He is one of the advocate of Euthanasia.]=
[他是安樂死的提倡者之一。]
[He strongly advocates Euthanasia.]=
[他非常提倡安樂死。]

那當然還有名詞就是
Advocacy (n.) 擁護、提倡 [ad-vuh-kuh-see]
他的重音在"Ad"；"vo", "ca"的母音都是發"ə"的音。
[His advocacy of Donald Trump has made him many enemies.]=
[他對唐納‧川普的擁護行為已經為他樹立了不少敵人。]

那當然還有一個跟他們長得很像，然後非常無關的單字就是
Avocado (n.) 酪梨 [av-uh-kah-doh]
他的"vo"只有發短音"və"的音；"ca"發"kɑ"的音；重音在"ca"的地方。
那不知道大家可能在吃墨西哥餐廳阿，比如說像是吃一些"borrito"(墨西哥捲餅)或是吃他們的墨西哥薄片(我猜是"tortilla chips")的時候呢，吃過一種叫做"guacamole"的東西，就是「酪梨醬」，他真的非常的好吃，他就是由"Avocado"做成的東西。

那最後我們來看
Award (n.) 獎、獎項 [uh-wawrd]
[Grammy Award]=
[葛萊美獎]
或著我們也可以把它當動詞用，比如說
[He was awarded with silver medal.]=
[他榮獲了銀牌這個獎項。]

那大家不要把Award跟Reward這兩個字搞混喔，
Reward (n.) 報答；獎勵 [ri-wawrd]
有"Re"這個字首在，就把他想成是一種「回饋」或是「反饋」醬子。
[He was rewarded with three thousand dollars after he gave back the phone.]=
[他把手機物歸原主之後就得到了三千塊的報答金。]

Alright, so let's take a look at today's sentence one more time:

blaze the trail: 照亮道路，有點類似中文「殺出一條血路」的意思。這邊兩個as都是介系詞，表「身份」，解做「當作、身為」。lead當名詞，解做「領導」。
