- I just brought over my oil pastels just so you can kind of see a comparison of the size difference here between an oil like the Sennelier oil stick and that's a Craypa oil pastel, so the Sennelier sticks are bigger than the Craypa, which is some of the bigger oil pastels, but not super, not a huge amount bigger, this is a Sennelier oil stick and a Sennelier oil pastel just for comparison there in size, so the oil sticks are bigger, they are generally more expensive and there's not as much variety in oil sticks as you would find in oil pastels, so if you're gonna do a sketch or a painting I should say, because you're gonna end up with an oil painting when you're done, you probably work on either a primed wood board or you might work on a canvas panel like this, or really anything that's got a good primer or a good surface to protect whatever the substrate is, you need to have something that's been gessoed or acrylic painted, something like that.
