    • Like it kind of looks like my tongue Let me just take a bite Mmm Eel is just so buttery soft the juices from the unagi kind of melt all in your mouth Some meals you get like a super super crispy on the outside This one isn't that crispy it more just kind of like melts inside of your mouth The tare that they use a sauce that they use is quite sweet But it goes so well with the sansho peppers that they put on top gives it a little bit of a spicy kick and also The rice it's been grilled So it has kind of like that crispy outer shell but not like too crispy and then it is still like quite sticky compared To like, you know normal rice and you would probably eat and you can see that it is pretty soaked in you can see that The rice has all that beautiful Sweet unagi sauce as far as the preparation goes before they actually grilled the unagi They'll steam at first so that it gets nice and fluffy That's why you probably get that melty sensation when you take the first bite.

    • The restaurant floor offers amazing meals while overlooking the Shinjuku district Our first stop is Akasaka Fukinuki a restaurant that specializes in one of Japan's most beloved traditional meals Unagi or broiled eel once upon a time eel was plentiful in Japan But as the population has decreased this meal is now considered a special occasion Delicacy and the unique flavor is quite difficult to replicate outside of Japan Eating unagi or eel is something that I really recommend.

    • If you feel tired during the summer, it's good for energy I'm gonna order hitsumabushi, which is eaten a very particular way and I'll show you how to eat it right now Hitsumabushi allows you to discover the joy of eating unagi by breaking it down into three steps The first is to enjoy the broiled eel over rice as is so you can familiarize yourself with the flavors and textures Eel itself isn't too fishy and the broiled sauce is sweet and salty We've got dried seaweed green onion Wasabi adding the seaweed as a flavoring on top gives it more of a sea salty Taste really interesting how the flavor of the unagi kind of takes to the seasonings Finally for step three What we're gonna do is we're gonna add some dashi and we're gonna make a eel Porridge by pouring the hot dashi over the rice and we've added wasabi green onion and seaweed on top as well This is definitely one of my favorite ways to enjoy unagi And the fact that you can enjoy this dish three ways makes it versatile and exciting every time you try it Once you've tried the unagi all three ways You can finish your meal, however, you'd like using the flavorings on your tray to customize it to your own tastes The next food I want to introduce to you is sukiyaki the quintessential Japanese food Sukiyaki is a Japanese style sweet and salty hot pot filled with veggies and served with strips of Japanese beef Dipped in raw egg, but don't worry If you're not comfortable eating raw egg, you can ask to replace the egg with dipping sauce instead At Takashimaya they use high-grade slices of domestic wagyu and serve you a carefully crafted course From Tottori Prefecture, Kuro Wagyu, the good stuff, the good stuff, and it's been dipped in raw egg Here we go, itadakimasu Mmm The beef is super good quality and it just melts, it just falls apart It's falling apart even in my chopsticks as I try to lift it up here Sukiyaki soup is a sugary soy, so it's sweet, but it's also salty and the egg makes it really creamy.
