How’s it going, Voicetubers?! It’s Hubert here with another episode of the Pronunciation Challenge! I really like the quote I started the video off with today. Many of us, including myself, once worked a job in which we go into “auto-pilot” mode which means to do an action without much thought. For example, have any of you listeners ever driven a car? Have you ever driven yourself home and once you got home, had no memory of how you did so? That, my friends, is what we call “auto-pilot”. It’s also a button in which pilots switch on so they don’t have to control the plane for the entire trip, otherwise, they’ll be pretty exhausted piloting a plane for several hours without a break!

Today’s featured sentence:

Ok, now time for the Pronunciation Tips.


For the first word, we have
Knowledge
Two syllables.
With “Know”, try saying “all” but with an N in front to give you “NALL”. With “ledge”, say it with a short “i” sound instead of the “e”. Knowledge.

Next up, we have
Resource
Two syllables
The first syllable, “Re” has a long E sound. With “Source”, imagine it being spelt “s o r s” so that you have that “O R” sound. Resource.

Lastly, we have,
Inspiration
Four syllables.
The first syllable “In” is as it sounds. “SPIR, sounds like the NBA team, the Spurs, minus the S. “SPIR”. “A” is simply saying the letter A and “TION” is your typical “t i o n” ending sound, “SHUN”. Inspiration.


Moving onto Vocabulary!

The first word is:
1. Knowledge
Definition
understanding of or information about a subject that you get by experience or study, either known by one person or by people generally
Used in a sentence you could say,
“It seems like you really have no knowledge of mathematics.”

Next word,
2. Resource
Definition
a useful or valuable possession or quality of a country, organization, or person
Used in a sentence, you could say:
“If you have a resource like this at your disposal it is absolutely invaluable.”

And lastly,
3. Inspiration
Definition:
someone or something that gives you ideas for doing something
Used in a sentence, you could say:

That was a great video just now, wasn’t it? I actually didn’t know what to do for a few years when I was younger. You guys want to know the reason why I chose to pursue my dream of becoming an actor? Before I tell you, I need to tell you how lazy I was as a teenager. I wanted a mindless job where I didn’t need to do anything (I later realized doing nothing was also torture) and made money. I initially chose to become an actor because I thought all I had to do was memorize lines! I could make lots of money and just play! I hated homework as a student and I figured this was the career that involved the least amount of homework! Boy, was I wrong! I probably entered a field that involved the most amount of homework! Luckily for me, I ended up enjoying the art of acting and stuck with it and here I am today! If I did anything else, I’d probably fall asleep and not even bother.
