Hi, guys! Welcome back to this week’s pronunciation challenge. Our video of the day is based on a famous quote which Steve Jobs mentioned in his commencement speech at Stanford University in 2005. So our video talks about how we all should try and find our own path in life, and how to make it unique and special. Throughout history, scientists, artists, scholars, politicians, and many others decided to live by their own rules and often they were the ones who made a difference and pushed humanity forward. In order to invent new things, or to create new paths, there has to be some kind of different behaviour. Sometimes this kind of behaviour is considered ‘crazy’, because many people cannot accept abnormal behaviours. But in fact, breaking the rules and making new ones is the only way to achieve progress. Groundbreaking discoveries were made by people who decided they were not satisfied with the way things were going. So they broke the rules and made new ones. ★My Thoughts★
由於意見觀念不合，從開始30歲被Apple公司辭退，最後自己創立Pixar公司，最後又被Apple公司買下，賈伯斯的人生跟Apple公司還真有緣分啊~
若是我被診斷有胰臟癌，且被告知這疾病無法被治癒，只剩下3~6個月的時間可活，我可能會嚇死...但幸好有那麼渺茫的機率賈伯斯罹患的是那0.000001%可以被治癒的胰臟癌，謝天謝地!
Steve Job是我真正欽佩的少數偶像之一，很少人在活著的時候被貼上有遠見的標籤，而他卻做到了，因為他多次準確地預測未來。10年後，他的影響力依然重要，很遺憾無法繼續下去。

Don't let the noise of others' opinions *drown out(蓋過,淹沒) your own inner(/ˈɪn.ɚ/內部的) voice, and most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition(/ˌɪn.tʃuːˈɪʃ.ən/直覺n.). They somehow(以某種方法adv.) already know what you truly want to become.
不要讓別人發出的噪音淹沒了自己內心的聲音，最重要的是，要有勇氣跟隨自己的內心和直覺，它們在某種程度上已經知道你真正想成為什麼。
◆ drown out something :（噪音）蓋過，淹沒
The sound of the telephone was drowned out by the vacuum cleaner. 電話的響聲被吸塵器的聲音蓋過了。
Our video of the day is based on a famous quote which Steve Jobs mentioned in his commencement(/kəˈmens.mənt/學位頒授典禮) speech at Stanford University in 2005. I really recommend you to listen to this inspiring speech if you have never heard it before. I’ll post a link to his full speech at the bottom of my recording transcript.
So our video talks about how we all should try and find our own path in life, and how to make it unique and special. Throughout history, scientists, artists, scholars(/ˈskɑː.lɚ/學者), politicians(政治家), and many others decided to live by their own rules and often they were the ones who made a difference and pushed humanity(人類) forward. In order to invent(發明v.) new things, or to create new paths, there has to be some kind of different behaviour. Sometimes this kind of behaviour is considered ‘crazy’, because many people cannot accept abnormal behaviours. But in fact, breaking the rules and making new ones is the only way to achieve progress. Groundbreaking(開創性的) discoveries were made by people who decided they were not satisfied with the way things were going. So they broke the rules and made new ones.
Let’s have a listen to our sentence of the day.
1. inner /ˈɪn.ɚ/ (adj.) 內部的、核心的inside or contained within something else:
He told funny jokes to disguise(掩蓋v.) his inner sadness. 他講了一些笑話來隱藏心中的難過。
2. courage /ˈkɝː.ɪdʒ/ (n.) 膽量、勇氣 the ability to control your fear in a dangerous or difficult situation:
The front-line soldiers showed great courage in battle. 前線士兵在戰場上展現出巨大的勇氣。
3. intuition /ˌɪn.tuːˈɪʃ.ən/ (n.) 直覺 (knowledge from) an ability to understand or know something immediately based on your feelings rather than facts:
My intuition tells me that her boyfriend might propose to her at the party tonight. 我的直覺告訴我，她男朋友今晚會在派對中向她求婚。
It is not easy to go against the mainstream(主流). Sometimes you have to fight social norms(標準), or be criticized by others. So no wonder most people decide to live a life that is safe instead of challenging what they know and what they are used to(習慣的). However, daring(dare膽敢v.) to break the rules is the only way to create something new. If we didn’t have brave dreamers in our past, we would never have discovered new continents(大洲), invented machines, created inspiring literature(文學), and music, or cured(cure治療v.) diseases. But you don’t have to be a great scientist or philosopher(哲學家) in order to make a difference in your life. You don’t need to make radical(徹底的) changes. It’s enough that you listen to your intuition and your heart, and change some aspects(/ˈæs.pekt/方面) of your life. You can start by doing something that you feel passionate(/ˈpæʃ.ən.ət/熱情的) about. Just remember to be true to yourself, be courageous(/kəˈreɪ.dʒəs/勇敢的) and dare to dream!
