★影片重點句子★ When water freezes, this bonding occurs on repeat, ultimately forming a hexagonal structure due to the angle between hydrogens and oxygen within each molecule.

A snowflake's developing shape depends on atmospheric conditions, like humidity and temperature.
So what's happening is that as skis move, they rub the surface of the snow and warm it up, creating a thin layer of water, which helps them slide along.
So technically, it's not really snow skiing, but water skiing.

What’s up, VoiceTubers? Leila here. Have you ever heard that no two snowflakes are alike? I mean, they may look like tiny pieces of fluffy ice, but at a microscopic level, they are each different. How can that be? Well, today’s video dives into the physics behind snowflakes, how they form, why they always have six sides, and how they each form differently. If that sounds like a boring science lesson, don’t worry, it isn’t. The animation for the video makes it way easier to understand. Plus there’s skiing and the abominable snowman and...well, I guess you’d better just check out the video for yourself, if you haven’t already.
In the meantime, let’s get to the Sentence of the Day:
You could say a snowflake is simply frozen water, but compare one with an ice cube from the freezer, and you'll realize they're very different things.
Pronunciation tips:
is simply (blended words) /izsimply/ frozen /froh-zin/ With an ice (blended) /with-uhnice/ cube
Vocabulary:
1. compare (v.) KK: /kəmˋpɛr/ IPA: /kəmˈper/ to examine or look for the difference between two or more things It takes me a while to go shopping because I always compare prices.
2. realize (v.) KK: /ˋrɪə͵laɪz/ IPA: /ˈriː.ə.laɪz/ to understand a situation, sometimes suddenly Oh, excuse me! I didn’t realize that was your umbrella.
3. freezer (n.) KK: /ˋfrizɚ/ IPA: /ˈfriː.zɚ/ a container, operated by electricity, that stores food at a very cold temperature so that it becomes solid and can be kept safely for a long time 冷凍櫃;冰櫃 Put the ice cream back in the freezer when you’re done.
I remember when a friend taught me how to ski. After I got the basics down and could actually ski down an easy slope, my friend told me that the snow would feel different depending on the day and the weather.
“Huh? Isn’t snow just snow?” “No way. There’s wet snow, there’s dry snow, there’s sticky snow, there’s slush snow--and the best kind is powder!” “Huh?”
It took me a while, but after more experience, I got better at skiing and at recognizing the differences in snow conditions. I’m no expert when it comes to snow, but after watching today’s video, I have more of an appreciation for snow and I can better understand why it affects my skiing the way that it does. It’s like there was this whole mysterious world of snow that I knew nothing about--all these rules or recipes for making firm snow or hardpack snow. (Sigh) But I still haven’t had the chance to ski on powder.
Does it snow a lot where you live? Or have you never seen snow before? Let me know in the comments. And as always, hit that record button when you’re ready with your sentence. Catch ya next time.
