Jenny's transcript!
Intro:
Hello VoiceTubers! How are you all doing? I have a question for you.
How would you define a good friend? Perhaps someone who is always there for you, no matter what? Someone who will encourage and support you when you are down? And how many friends like that would you say you have? According to studies, most people have four best friends on average. That is usually typical for young people, just out of college. And after that, out of every twelve friends they make, only one lasts. Another research found that not having friends at all is actually dangerous to your health. It is scientifically proven that the company of good friends reduces stress in life. So that’s why it’s important to know who your good friends are. And equally important to identify friends who are fake and unsupportive. Having an insincere friend like that might increase your stress level, and make you feel unworthy. Fake friends might use you for their personal needs, and once they're done they’ll just leave or ignore you. That’s why it’s important to know how to tell the difference between real and fake friends.
You can learn more about how to identify fake friends, and what to do about it, in this week’s video.
Let me take you through our sentence of the day:

Sentence:

Fake friends are destructive. They are also sometimes hard to recognize. You can have a friend for years before realizing they are not sincere.

Pronunciation Tips:
hard to (linking)
recognize
realizing
they are (linking)
sincere

Vocabulary:
1. destructive (Adj.)
KK[dɪˋstrʌktɪv] IPA /dɪˈstrʌk.tɪv/
causing, or able to cause, damage

Example:
Her new puppy is so destructive, he chewed up her favorite Chanel bag!

2. recognize (v.)
KK[ˋrɛkəg͵naɪz] IPA /ˈrek.əɡ.naɪz/
to know someone or something because you have seen or heard him or her or experienced it before

Example:
Anna and Lisa are identical twins and their teacher has trouble recognizing who is who.

3. sincere (Adj.)
KK[sɪnˋsɪr] IPA /sɪnˈsɪr/
(of a person, feelings, or behavior) not pretending or lying; honest

Example:
Please accept my sincere apology. I promise it won’t happen again.

Outro:
So identifying and keeping a distance from fake friends is an important skill. Almost everyone has had a bad experience with a friend they initially thought was good. I have once unfriended someone who betrayed our friendship based on his own selfishness. It made me upset for a long time but I think sometimes you just need to draw the line. Life is too short to waste on people that don’t deserve your love. That being said, I feel super lucky because I do have many wonderful friends in my life. Good friends are so important. If you have any stories you would like to share with us, feel free to do so in the comment section.
I hope to see you again next week. Until then, goodbye!

I might have been unfriended by others when I was young.

Fake(/feɪk/虛情假意的) friends are destructive(/dɪˈstrʌk.tɪv/有害的). They are also sometimes hard(困難的) to recognize(/ˈrek.əɡ.naɪz/認清v.). You can have a friend for years before realizing(意識到) they are not sincere(/sɪnˈsɪr/真誠的).

Hello VoiceTubers! How are you all doing? I have a question for you. How would you define(定義v.) a good friend? Perhaps someone who is always there for you, no matter what? Someone who will encourage and support you when you are down(情緒低落的)? And how many friends like that would you say you have? According to studies, most people have four best friends *on average(平均). That is usually typical for young people, just out of college(剛離開學校). And after that, out of every twelve friends they make, only one lasts(每交12個朋友,只有一個能繼續維持). Another research found that not having friends at all is actually dangerous to your health. It is scientifically proven(被證實) that the company(陪伴n.) of good friends reduces stress in life. So that’s why it’s important to know who your good friends are. And equally(均等地) important to identify(/aɪˈden.t̬ə.faɪ/識別v.) friends who are fake and unsupportive. Having an insincere(/ˌɪn.sɪnˈsɪr/不誠懇的) friend like that might increase your stress level, and make you feel unworthy(不值得的). Fake friends might use(利用v.) you for their personal needs, and once they're done they’ll just leave or ignore(忽略v.) you. That’s why it’s important to know how to tell(辨別v.) the difference between real and fake friends. You can learn more about how to identify fake friends, and what to do about it, in this week’s video. Let me take you through our sentence of the day.

1. destructive /dɪˈstrʌk.tɪv/ (Adj.) 破壞、毀滅性的 ; 有害的 causing, or able to cause, damage:

So identifying and keeping a distance from fake friends is an important skill. Almost everyone has had a bad experience with a friend they initially(起初adv.) thought was good. I have once unfriended(解除朋友關係v.) someone who betrayed(背叛v.) our friendship based on his own selfishness(自私n.). It made me upset for a long time but I think sometimes you just need to *draw the line(劃清界線). Life is too short to waste on people that don’t deserve(值得v.) your love. That being said(即使如此), I feel super lucky because I do have many wonderful friends in my life. Good friends are so important.
