What’s up VoiceTubers? It’s Benson again and welcome to today’s pronunciation challenge. Do you guys spend most of your time sitting? Well, I bet you do! ‘Cause if you’re a student, you need to sit for hours to listen to your teacher lecturing. And if you’re not a student, you might be spending eight hours a day in an office hunched over a computer screen. But do you know that sitting is actually harmful for our health? You can find out the reasons in today’s video. Let’s take a look at the sentence of the day first!

Sitting is obviously a huge problem and it's not something that we talk or really think about so much, at least not as much as diet and exercise. (98-105)

think about 連音
diet 唸法 /ˈdaɪət/
least 發長音 /i/

單字:
Obviously: used to mean that a fact can easily be noticed or understood

Obviously, Sally didn’t seem to accept Tom’s apology.

at least: even if something better is not true or is not done

He is not a good husband but at least, he can be counted as a responsible father.
It’ll take me 3 days at most to complete this article.

diet: the food and drink that you eat and drink regularly

She tries her best to provide a balanced diet for her kids.

diet: a way of eating in which you only eat certain foods, in order to lose weight, or to improve your health

diet 還有「節食」的意思,最常聽見的用法就是 go on a diet (減肥)。

Tina has been on a diet for several months since she wants to look perfect on her wedding day.

That’s all for today’s pronunciation challenge. As you’ve learned how sitting for long hours will harm your health, stop sitting and make sure to stand up every once in a while! Standing up, moving around and doing some exercise to stretch muscles will have a positive effect on our bodies. So if you have time to take a break, go and do some exercise. What do you do to avoid sitting at work all day? Let me know in the comments below and I’ll See you next week.

■ for /fɔːr/ —> /fɚ/
This is for /fɚ/ you.
Good for /fɚ/ you.

0:34 Do you guys spend most of your time sitting? Well, I bet(/bet/打賭v.) you do! ‘Cause if you’re a student, you need to sit for hours to listen to your teacher lecturing(lecture/ˈlek.tʃɚ/講課v.). And if you’re not a student, you might be spending eight hours a day in an office hunched(hunch/hʌntʃ/弓背v.) over a computer screen, you know, just like me. But do you know that sitting is actually harmful(有害的a.) for our health? You can find out the reasons in today’s video. Let’s take a look at the sentence of the day first. “Sitting is obviously(/ˈɑːb.vi.əs.li/顯而易見地adv.) a huge problem and it's not something that we talk or really think about so much, at least not as much as diet(/ˈdaɪ.ət/飲食n.) and exercise(/ˈek.sɚ.saɪz/運動n.). “

go on a diet : 減肥
Tina has been on a diet for several months since she wants to look perfect on her wedding(婚禮n.) day.

That’s all for today’s pronunciation challenge. As you’ve learned how sitting for long hours will harm(v.損害) your health, stop sitting and make sure to stand up every once in a while(=sometimes)! Standing up, moving around and doing some exercise to stretch(v.伸展) muscles will have a positive effect on our bodies. So if you have time to take a break, go and do some exercise. What do you do to avoid sitting at work all day? Let me know in the comments below and I’ll See you next week.
