I think most people in Taiwan respect the elderly because of our education. We teach the children concepts of Confucianism like filial piety. On train or MRT, I can say people are willing to yield their seats to the elderly despite the debates. Sometimes I see some old people gently decline by saying they’re going to get off by the next stop. It’s quite funny though they’re still aboard two or three stops. ?
