其實現在念大學最被詬病的就是:學校學得和出社會用到的有落差,也就是常常聽到的「學不以致用
」。
但念大學真的是培養到社會工作的能力嗎?
以我自己為例,我大學就是念大家所謂的無用科系「政治系」,充其量就是大家都在考高普考的科系。
說實在要考上高普考,也根本不需要讀這個科系就可以考上,我們科系裡面轉系的、雙主修的、轉學、重考的可謂比比皆是。
可能某個同學你這學期還看到他來上課,下學期已經沒看到人,一問之下才發現他已經休學的也不在少數。
回歸正題,我們從小到大受了這麼多的教育,難道工作能力的培養就僅僅在大學這四年嗎?
我自己也是認為自己的科系在工作技能上並無太大用處,也就是俗稱工作的「硬實力」(學歷、專業技能 ...etc)不足;但我自己認為,我的科系對於「軟實力」(態度、經驗、獲取資訊能力....etc)的培養算是相當不錯。最有趣的就是教授常常要我們以不同的角度思考,不要人云亦云,有問題就要提出。
問題在於,從小到大的教育就是告訴我們:有問題被提出會被其他人以另類的眼光看待,導致自己真的有疑問也不敢提出,到最後就變成沒有主見、思考能力的機器人。
我雖然不贊同大學學歷讓我找工作更有優勢,但我在大學時期學會「自學」的能力,也就是自己找書來看,自己尋找適合自己的領域。
而我必須說,這真的非常有幫助。
能自己選擇讀的書是一件幸福的事情,不必再為了考試的成績而硬讀討厭的書。也因為是自己喜歡的領域,自然讀得開心,在應用上也不會那麼生硬。
就這點來說,我仍是認為四年累積二十多萬的負債是值得的。 當然我也要感謝我的媽媽,在我唸大學的時候提供我生活費,一筆遠遠超過學雜費的金額。要有效地用匱乏且有限的資金,還能夠存到一筆近視雷射的手術費,我想這門「理財學」是我在大學裡面,從我媽那裡學到最重要的一課。
So, if you ask me. "Would you ever regret going to university?" I would reply, "No, I would not. I have learned the best lesson ever there!"
