1 . affect 影響
那其實把affect跟effect搞混的是一個非常常見的錯誤，其實不只是我們在台灣在學英文的人，連英文的母語者有時候自己都會犯錯。所以其實只要有出現任何一個字，我都會把另外一個字也寫上來幫大家複習。有一個大大的原則就是說affect是當動詞使用，就是說你想要用影響作為動詞的時候，你要用affect。然後如果要做為名詞，作為結果或是效應這個解釋就要用effect，但是偶爾會有一些例外，那我們今天就稍微教一下大家這個記法。
affect [əˋfɛkt] (v.) 影響
She was strongly affected by her illness and failed to complete the test.
她因為受生病所影響而沒辦法完成考試。
effect [ɪˋfɛkt] (n.) 結果、效應
Greenhouse effect 溫室效應
Butterfly effect 蝴蝶效應
2 . mutation 變化
mutation [mjuˋteʃən] (n.) 變化、突變
它好像不應該這麼變化，而它卻變成這樣。
gene mutation 基因突變
DNA mutation 去氧核醣核酸突變
mutate [ˋmjutet] (v.) 變化
mutant [ˋmjutənt] (n.) 變種人
如果我們有看X戰警的人就會知道他們裡面有很多變種人，變種人就叫做mutant，那他們會變成變種人都是因為mutation的關係，尤其是gene mutation或是DNA mutation，也就是說他們的基因裡面發生了突變，才會讓他們變成比較不一樣。
3 . slip 滑動

slip away溜走

你不應該讓這一個機會從你手中溜走。
Slipping through my fingers(形容時間)
很像是你把沙子抓在手上可是你留不住的感覺。

這個時間慢慢流逝；我需要好好把握這個時間。

因為很多人都會把slip和sleep中間的發音搞混，那其實嘴形也會有一點點不一樣，因為slip你的嘴其實是放鬆的，可是sleep你會有一個嘴角往左右邊拉的感覺，所以大家可以去體會一下，也可以練練看這兩個音的差別。
