Finally modern humans could put all this to use when they developed farming and produced a surplus of food.

■pursuit (n.) 嗜好、消遣、娛樂；追蹤、追擊；追求、從事

Now that we weren't moving around all the time and trying to solve our daily problems of finding food and shelter, we could turn our collective imaginations towards thinking of new inventions or creative pursuits like art.

beyond belief 難以置信
beliefs 是名詞 belief 的複數形式；believes 是動詞 believe 的第三人稱單數形式
■creature [ˋkritʃɚ] 生物；動物；(前加形容詞)…的人；創造物；產物

「心智理論」是指一種能夠了解他人的想法與信仰可能會與自己不同的能力。
【心得】想像力真的是很重要的一種能力。尤其當現實不那麼美好時，就更需要想像力和幽默感。

We want that perfect resolution to our heartaches and curiosity. But this isn't a story. So you need to stop thinking about us like you can /predict or control where we're going.

For those with the disorder, their obsession feels out of their control. It can be debilitating, and cleaning won't solve the problem. The obsessions are typically intertwined with compulsions-repeated actions the person has to do just to fuction.
