瑞典有研究指動物的短期記憶只有27秒，其中狗隻只儲存兩分鐘的記憶，因此予人無心理會的感覺。
雖然動物的短期記憶普遍很差，但牠們對於包括求生技能，如食物所在等等有用資訊能儲存很久。
