Hi guys welecome to today's Pronunciation Challenge, and my name is Kristi. So today is Saterday, and I'm going on a hiking trip in Yangmingshan, so wish me luck on that.
But today we have a video and it is a TED-ED video, it's called "Why do we hiccups", and this is the one of the most annoying thing that happens to people, which you have zero control over, and this video basically explains why we hiccup and some of the world records as well, do you guys wanna take a guess at the uhm… what's the longest hiccup that ever happened in The Guinness World Record……….. It's 68 years(OMG WHAT A TORTURE), having a hiccup for 68 years, can you imagine that! I personally will not be able to live with that! So anyways let's take a look at today's sentence and hope we don't get hiccups :

那我們首先要來看的第一個單字呢是
Hiccup (n.) 打嗝[hik-uhp]
它的重音在第一個音節，然後後面接著的是kʌp的音

那我這邊下面也列出了另一種打嗝
Burp (v.) 打嗝[burp]
那這兩個差在哪裡呢
hiccup 短短的小打嗝
burp 通常是指打飽嗝吃飽
那這基本上就是這兩個單字的差別。(一定要配Kristi的錄音)
那我們可以說
[It is really rude to burp in front of everyone but one the other hand, you can't really control your hiccups.]=
[在大家面前打嗝是一件非常粗魯的行為，但說到另一面，你也不能控制你的橫膈膜抽筋。]

那再來我們要看的是
Stimuli (n.) 刺激來源（複數）[stim-yuh-lahy]
Stimulus (n.) 刺激來源（單數）[stim-yuh-luh s]

那大家可能對
Stimulation (n.) 刺激[stim-yuh-ley-shuh n]
比較有印象，它是指整個刺激的當下這樣子
記得Sti要發出的"T"音，因為如果少念的話就會變成
Simulation (adj.) 偽裝的、模仿[sim-yuh-ley-shuh n]
[This video game is a simulation of a pilot control an airplane.]=
[這款電玩是在詮釋飛行員開飛機的模擬遊戲。]

那它的動詞原形呢則是
Stimulate (v.) 刺激[stim-yuh-leyt] 
[He was stimulated by the words of his father.]=
[他被他父親的話語所激勵。]

再來我們來看
Stretch (v.) 伸直、伸展[strech]
"Stre"是發微笑的嘴型"ɛ"
[Tall people barely have any extra space to strech their legs on the airplane.]=
[身高比較高的人幾乎完全沒有空間能讓他們在飛機上伸展雙腿。]

那跟他長得很像的有一個字叫做
Sketch (n.) 速寫、草圖[skech]
[This is the Sketch of my future home.]=
[這是我為我未來的房子所畫的草圖。]

再來我們要來看的是
Stomach (n.) 胃[stuhm-uh k]
那如果說整個腹部的話呢則是
Abdomen (n.) 腹部[ab-duh-muh n]
回到胃這個字
"mach"這個地方只有發短音"ʌ"的音

那如果是
Stomachache [ˋstʌmək͵ek] (n.) 肚子痛[stuhm-uh k-eyk]
就是"stomach"後面加上"ache"
我之前有一陣子以為我這樣拼看起來好像怪怪的，可是其實就是這樣。
[He is having a stomachache because he had to much at the hot pot.]=
[他吃太多麻辣鍋了，所以他現在胃很痛。]

再來我們來看
Swallow (v.) 吞下[swol-oh]
它的"a"是發"ɑ"的音，"ow"是發"o"的音。
[His son have to have a surgery because he accidentally swallow a piece of lego.]=
[他兒子因為不小心吞了一塊樂高就要去做一趟手術。]

最後我們來看
Rapid [ˋræpɪd] (adj.) 快的[rap-id]
它的"a"是發"æ"的音
通常會有那種生長快速的意思
[the economics in this country are growing rapidly.]=
[這國家的經濟正在飛快成長。]
那大家可能會覺得這個字看起來有點陌生，可以把它想像成

Rabbit [ˋræbɪt] (n.) 兔子[rab-it]
Rabbit跳很快，就是可以稍微聯想一下念法，雖然說跳很快不能用這個"rapid"

2. 今日腦補主題：相近詞的差別("quick", "rapid", "fast")都翻譯為”快的”，三者有何區別？以下是google後整理歸納的結果：
『fast』 ：強調速度上的迅速，指動作的迅速。也同時當副詞用。
『quick』：強調時間上的迅速，指時間持續很短，副詞是quickly。
『rapid』：既著重於動作，亦強調速度的快速，常會用來指成長(如經濟成長)和改變的速度，比 fast 和 quick 都來得正式，所以在學術性的文章中比前者更常出現在學術文章中，副詞是rapidly。
quick, fast , rapid可能接同一名詞，有時意思完全一樣這些形容詞可能接同一名詞，如 in rapid succession = in quick succession (連珠砲似地；一連串地)，有時意思其實非常不同，如 a quick worker ：指做事速度快的人，但 a fast worker ：指很快就與異性上床的人。

昨天去清大看了“一代斯文”
不論編劇演員都很認真很用心 推

以下節錄自中時電子報：
導演李佳木表示，以人物作為題材的戲劇，情節往往相對較平淡；但梅貽琦畢生的經歷，足讓話劇《一代斯文》在大陸首演後隨即獲得好評。有趣的是，李佳木說，當初決定做這齣劇時，這些大陸90後的演員都對老題材抗拒，在李佳木循序漸進地引導後才得以排戲。孰料這些年輕演員在大陸首演後，無一不在後台感動地大哭，也震撼現場2千名觀眾。
