Research shows that a nap of just 26 minutes can increase your performance by as much as 34 percent. Not only that, even a short nap reduces stress, improves memory, reduces the risk of heart disease, and can even aid in weight loss. I love that! Yes, you can lose weight by sleeping. Extra sleep may affect weight even more than we realize. Cornell researchers found that a child’s risk of obesity decreases by 9 percent with each additional hour of sleep. We're still waiting, of course, for the much anticipated follow-up study to tell us, hopefully, how they got those children to sleep. So remember: A 26 minute nap equals 34 percent increased performance. Find the time for that quick snooze, and you’ll feel just a little bit better.
