I live in England. Right now I'm walking through the streets of London.

I can see cars on the road because people are travelling from their homes to work.

Prepositions are words like these. They go before nouns to show things like time.

I'll see you at 7 o'clock.

At the restaurant.

And direction.

OK, I think I'll walk from my house to the restaurant and then I'll get some fresh air.

Some prepositions are one word. Some are more than one word. But why are they so difficult?

有些介詞是一個詞。有些則不止一個詞。但它們為什麼這麼難呢？

Well, often there isn't a direct translation in a person's first language. Or if there is, it doesn't always apply. Because prepositions in English have lots of different meanings and uses. Just have a look at all of these uses of the word over.

通常，一個人的母語並沒有直接的翻譯。即使有，也並不總是適用。因為英語中的介詞有很多不同的含義和用法。看看 over 這個詞的這些用法就知道了。

The plane flew over the mountains.

飛機飛越群山。

I slept a lot over the weekend.

The athlete is over two metres tall.

OK, so we know they're difficult. So how can we learn them more easily? I've got two tips.

好了，我們知道它們很難。那麼，怎樣才能學得更輕鬆呢？我有兩個建議。

One, it helps to learn them with words they are likely to go with. So don't learn depend on its own. Learn depend on. Don't learn consist on its own. Learn consist of. Two, it also helps to learn them in categories. Like time, for example.

其一，學習它們時，最好與它們可能搭配的單詞一起學習。是以，不要單獨學習 depend。學習 depend on。不要單獨學習 consist。學習 consist of。第二，分類學習也有幫助。比如時間。
