Taiwan's world-infamous living-hell traffic stems from loose enforcement of regulations, people's lack of morals, and ...no capital punishment!

Hey everyone! Today we're going to talk about something really important - pedestrian safety. Did you know that according to a study led by Robert Schneider, 97% of roadways with high pedestrian fatalities had multiple lanes? That's a staggering statistic, and one that we should all take seriously.

You see, as our cities grow and become more crowded, it's becoming increasingly difficult to keep pedestrians safe. With more cars on the road and more people walking, the risk of accidents and fatalities is on the rise. And, as the study led by Schneider shows, multiple lane roads are particularly dangerous for pedestrians.

So, what can we do to improve pedestrian safety? Well, one solution is to redesign our roads and transportation systems with pedestrians in mind. This means creating safer crosswalks, building more sidewalks, and implementing traffic calming measures that slow down cars and make it easier for pedestrians to cross the street.

Another solution is to educate both drivers and pedestrians on safe practices. Drivers need to be aware of the presence of pedestrians and take precautions to avoid accidents. Pedestrians, on the other hand, need to be aware of their surroundings and follow safe walking practices, such as using crosswalks and looking both ways before crossing the street.

But, it's not just about redesigning our transportation systems and educating people on safe practices. We also need to address the root causes of pedestrian fatalities, such as speeding, distracted driving, and drunk driving. This means implementing laws and regulations that discourage dangerous driving behaviors, and holding drivers accountable for their actions.

In addition to these solutions, we can also take steps to promote active transportation, such as walking and biking. Not only does active transportation reduce the number of cars on the road, but it also promotes healthy living and improves air quality.

In conclusion, pedestrian safety is a serious issue that affects us all. The study led by Robert Schneider highlights the danger of multiple lane roads and the need for solutions to improve pedestrian safety. By redesigning our transportation systems, educating people on safe practices, addressing the root causes of pedestrian fatalities, and promoting active transportation, we can create safer streets and communities for everyone. So, let's all do our part to make pedestrian safety a priority and create a better, safer world for all of us.
