Jenny's transcript!
Intro:
Hi guys, it’s Monday again. Welcome back to the Pronunciation Challenge. Needless to say, there is a strong connection between the experiences of our childhoods and our current attitudes and decisions. Exposure to positive factors, especially stable and responsive relationships with parents and other adults, and safe and supportive environments promote positive development. Whereas childhood trauma has been strongly linked to depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and other mental health disorders that are present in adulthood.
Our early experiences shape our beliefs about ourselves, others and the world. I often reflect back on my childhood and I try to understand why I react to things the way I do. Let’s talk more about this topic after we go over our pronunciation challenge. Here is our sentence.

Outro:
Perhaps your childhood has shaped you into someone who has trust issues, perhaps you have anger management issues, or perhaps you always doubt yourself and think you are not good enough. No matter if you’ve had a good childhood or a bad childhood, it’s all in the past and we cannot change or fix what has already happened. What we can do, though, is to validate our emotions and try to understand the mess inside us. After acknowledging where these negative feelings stem from, try and understand how it impacts your daily thoughts and actions and be patient while you figure out a way to cope. If you need professional help, you can also seek a therapist. Accept yourself and your past and help others to understand you, too. For example, during my childhood my father made me feel no matter what I do, I was never good enough. I became very hard on myself and strived for perfectionism. In my adulthood, I get told often that I am also too hard on other people close to me and that I cause a lot of unnecessary stress. It’s a habit hard to break, but after acknowledging this problem, I will keep reminding myself to not use my own emotional pain to control others.
We can’t fix bad childhoods, but we can be responsible for our own behaviors and actions and strive to become a better person. This brings me to the end of our episode. Thanks for listening and I hope you’ll be back next week. Until then, have a great week and bye-bye for now.
