What’s up my fellow VoiceTubers! It’s your boy, Hugh, back with another episode of the Pronunciation Challenge! Today, I’ll be presenting an episode about something I’m familiar with. (“familiar with” means to have some knowledge of whatever you’re talking about) That would be packing for travel! Here’s the funniest part. I suck at packing despite how often I have to do it. I always leave it till the night before to pack everything and by then, I’m just throwing everything into my luggage. It’s definitely not a good method so I’d pay close attention to this video right here. It seems like she’s got some good tips. I do, however, know one trick that can save space in regards to packing pants! I’ll talk about it after the featured sentence. Let’s get to it!

Today’s featured sentence:

Ok, now time for the Pronunciation Tips.


For the first word, we have
miscellaneous
Five syllables.
“Mis” sounds like the “miss” in “I miss you”. “CEL” has a short U sound with an S in the front. “LA” has a long A sound. “NE” has a long E sound and “OUS” sounds like the word, “is”. Miscellaneous.

Next up, we have
electronics
Four syllables
“E” has a long E sound. “LEC” has a short E sound. “TRO” has a short O sound and “NICS” has a short i sound. Electronics.

Lastly, we have,
toiletries
Three syllables.
“TOI” sounds like the word, “toy”, like what kids play with. “LE” has a short U sound and “TRIES” sounds like the word, “trees”. Toiletries.


Moving onto Vocabulary!

The first word is:
1. Miscellaneous
Definition
consisting of a mixture of various things that are not usually connected with each other
Used in a sentence you could say,
“That bin has a bunch of miscellaneous items for sale.”


Next word,
2. Electronics
Definition
(especially of equipment), using, based on, or used in a system of operation that involves the control of electric current by various devices
Used in a sentence, you could say:
“Make sure not to bring any electronics with you into the water park.”

And lastly,
3. Toiletries
Definition:
objects and substances that you use in washing yourself and preventing the body from smelling unpleasant
Used in a sentence, you could say:
“I bet a lot of people steal the toiletries from the hotel rooms.”

The vertical method! That’s genius! Ok, maybe I shouldn’t talk about my little trick…Well, since I already have everyone here, I’ll say it anyway! I have the pant leg hanging outside the luggage! Yes, I don’t fold it right away. I lay it out flat (along with my other pants) and have the pant leg hang out and I pack all my clothes on top of all my pants. Once I finish packing all the other clothing items, I wrap the pants back into the luggage on top of all the clothing! That way, I make the best of the space I have in the luggage. I actually don’t think there’s anything wrong with my packing method. It’s the things I put into my luggage that is the issue here. Like the quote at the beginning of this episode, “just in case”, is the worst thing to say when you’re packing. I always overpack and I don’t even wear half the items I bring! I even paid for extra luggage before and didn’t end up wearing anything from the luggage! However, I tried to not do it this time around with my trip back to Canada, and guess what? I actually needed the item I didn’t bring. The world works in funny ways, don’t you think?
