Intro:
Hi, everyone. I’m Tera, and this is VoiceTube’s Pronunciation Challenge. As a human, we laugh, we cry. We are angry; we are joyful. Sometimes calm and relaxed; sometimes depressed, shameful, and lonely. As a human, it’s barely hard to not have emotions. Let’s say, what would you feel if you suddenly became a billionaire? What would you feel if your best friend betrayed you? What would you feel if you could travel to ancient times by a time machine? What would you feel if you woke up at 8 in the morning and found out that it was Saturday? A variety of delicate emotions come up, don’t they? Check out the video and see how emotions work, and why it’s important for us to focus on emotions. And now, let’s deal with our daily mission together. Today’s featured sentence is…
Featured sentence: You feel and function better when you are aware of and deal with your "real" emotions, even if they are painful.
Tips:
1. function: two syllables with the stress on the first one. Notice that the "c" here should be pronounced as a minor /k/ sound. But, when we speak faster, we tend to not speak the /k/ sound out, and instead, we place a little space in it and stop for a very short while. Let me do it again, "func-tion".
2. aware of: there is a linking between "aware" and "of". "aware of".
3. deal: only one syllable, and the vowel of this word is a long vowel, /i/. Pretty much like how we say the letter "E".
4. painful: two syllables with the stress on the first one. Remember to precisely pronounce the nasal /n/ sound in the first syllable. "pain-ful".

Alright, we are all wrapped up. Time flies! This is gonna be my last episode. It’s so amazing that we have been practicing English listening and speaking skills together for almost half a year. Thanks for your ongoing support. I really appreciate it. Before we say goodbye, I would like to end this episode with one of my favorite quotes from Mark Twain. "The secret of getting ahead is getting started." Step by step, you’re making a big change, and that’s a really big deal! I hope everyone’s doing good and is living the life you’re proud of. I’m Tera from VoiceTube. Hopefully, we’ll meet again in the near future. Take care!
