Intro:
Hi, VoiceTubers. Welcome to VoiceTube’s Pronunciation Challenge. If you haven’t known me before, My name is Tera, and today, we’re going to talk about…sleep! Is it so hard for you to leave your bed? Well, I had myself known the pains of getting up in the morning. When I was still a university student, all of the students in our department would have to get up at 6:30 and line up right in front of the department building in order to make a reservation for the practice rooms. Once the door was opened at 7, everyone sprinted and rushed into it every day, no matter how the weather was. As you can imagine, we, of course, fought a lot with our beds and alarm clocks. Let me tell you what a typical morning in the dorm room was like. But first, today’s featured sentence is…

Featured sentence: You're interrupting and restarting your sleep cycle over and over again.

Tips:
interrupt: three syllables with the stress on the last one. Notice that there are two consonants in the final syllable. They should all be pronounced clearly. So, "in-te-rrupt".
restart: two syllables with the stress on the second one. "re", /rɪ/, here as a prefix means "again". Besides, remember to pronounce the "r" in the second syllable. "re-start".
cycle: two syllables with the stress on the first one. "c" in the first syllable has a /s/ sound, whereas "c" in the second syllable turns into a /k/ sound. Together, "cy-cle".

[Ok, here are some vocabulary words from the sentence.]

Vocab:
1. interrupt (v.) KK [͵ɪntəˋrʌpt] IPA /ˌɪn.t̬əˈrʌpt/
def: to stop a person from speaking for a short period by something you say or do
打斷
I didn’t mean to interrupt you, but your baby was crying loudly.
我沒有要打斷你意思,但你的寶寶一直在大聲哭鬧。

2. restart (v.) KK [rɪˋstɑrt] IPA /ˌriːˈstɑːrt/
def: to start something again
重新啟動
I’ve been restarting my computer for the past 15 minutes, but it’s just not working.
我過去十五分鐘都在重新啟動我的電腦,但它就是無法運作。

3. cycle (n.) KK [ˋsaɪk!] IPA /ˈsaɪ.kəl/
def: a group of events that happen in a particular order, one following the other, and are often repeated
週期
Life is a natural cycle, just like the changing seasons.
人生就像季節遞嬗,有著自然的週期。

Outro:
Well, in order not to miss the time, all of us set our own alarm clocks around 6:30. But the problem was, you know, since everyone’s ringtone was different, it was pretty noisy, and one of my roomies, let’s call her Miss K, could never hear her clock. So we ended up going like this: We made Miss K’s clocks go off at 6:30 all the way to 6:45, when it finally got everyone up, we then woke her up. We, later on, got used to her alarm clock so that we all overslept as long as she was not in the dorm, haha. It was a sheer disaster, wasn't it? I mean, what kind of undergraduates will have to wake up so early in the morning nearly every day? But…at least it is some kind of shared memory we all have…What about you? Do you have any related stories that you would like to share? Tell me down below and…see you!

#啊就..昨天也醒不來,今天也起不來(攤手)
And don't set alarms every half an hour; you're not gradually waking yourself up. You're interrupting and restarting your sleep over and over. I'm guilty of this, and so are many of you. It's the worst; just stop it.

舉手發問!我查到的sleep over是「過夜」的意思,oversleep 是「睡過頭」的意思。Tera要表達的意思應該是後者嗎?

Outro:
Well, in order not to miss(錯過) the time, all of us set our own alarm clocks around 6:30. But the problem was, you know, since everyone’s ringtone(手機鈴聲) was different, it was pretty noisy, and one of my roomies( roomie室友), let’s call her Miss K, could never hear her clock. So we ended up going like this: We made Miss K’s clocks *go off(響起) at 6:30 all the way to 6:45, when it finally got everyone up, we then woke her up. We, later on, got used to her alarm clock so that we all *slept over(?睡過頭) as long as she was not in the dorm, haha. It was *a sheer(完全的) disaster, wasn't it? I mean, what kind of undergraduates(大學生) will have to wake up so early in the morning nearly every day? But…at least it is some kind of shared(共有的) memory we all have…What about you? Do you have any related(相關的) stories that you would like to share? Tell me down below and…see you!

☺You're interrupting and restarting your sleep cycle over and over again.
你這樣只會不斷地打斷、又重新開始你的睡眠循環。
【心得】我平常日的鬧鈴用的是一首音樂伴奏,通常我會讓自己躺到整首音樂播放完一次就起床,這樣應該不算賴床吧!?:p
