Intro:

Hi, Voicetubers! It’s Tera. How are you doing? The Qing-Ming bridge holiday had just ended. Did you do anything interesting during those days? Did you go on a road trip and drive cars on highways? If you did or if you happen to drive a lot, then the theme of today’s episode might be relevant to you. That is, "Why you shouldn’t drive slowly in the left lane." We often hear people being punished and receiving a penalty because they drive too fast, but is driving slowly in the left lane a big deal? Remember to spend a few minutes on this video before we go through today’s sentence.

Featured sentence: but more recently, there have been campaigns in places like Washington, Texas, and Ohio, where police are actually issuing tickets to people they spot traveling slowly in the left lane.

Tips:
recently: three syllables with the stress on the first one. "re" sounds like "ree", "cen" is a "sen" sound, and then the letter "t" in "tly" would sound minor. After softly pronouncing /t/, add "ly" which sounds like "lee" with it. "Recently".
campaign: two syllables with the stress on the latter syllable. "Cam" is /kæm/, and paign is pronounced as "pain", the letter g here is a silent sound, you can ignore the g when speaking this word.
issue: two syllables with the stress on the first syllable. "I-ssue". "ssue" is similar to the sound we make when things fall "shoo". When it becomes "issuing", the number of syllables adds up to three, making it "i-ssu-ing".

Vocab:
recently (adv.) KK [ˋrisntlɪ] IPA /ˈriː.sənt.li/
def: not long ago
最近、不久前
It’s been a while since I last met you. How have you been recently?
上次看到你已經是好久以前了。最近過得好嗎?

campaign (n.) KK [kæmˋpen] IPA /kæmˈpeɪn/
Def: a planned group of especially political, business, or military activities that are intended to achieve a particular aim
運動、活動
A religious campaign is taking place in front of the historical building.
一個宗教活動正在那具歷史性的大樓前進行著。

issue (v./n.) KK [ˋɪʃjʊ] IPA /ˈɪʃ.uː/
(n.) 爭議、問題
(v.) 發布、核發
def:
(n.) a subject or problem that people are thinking and talking about
(v.) to produce or provide something official
There has been a constant drumbeat over this ongoing issue recently.
這個持續存在的問題最近廣受辯論。
That organization will issue all the travel documents you need as soon as possible.
那個組織將會儘早核發所有您需要的旅行資料。

Outro:
Let’s briefly summarize this video. It starts with a man who got pulled over for his very first time in life on the way back up from his road trip. That was not a speed over just as everyone might imagine, it was because he drove too slowly in the left lane. Thus, this video aims to argue why people who do not drive over a specific speed in the left lane will get in trouble by exploring the underlined potential problems. The speaker states that slow drivers in the left lane are likely to make others exposed to danger, and that is because when a faster driver feels like passing the slow car, he’ll have to repeatedly slow down and weave back and forth, which often leads to accidents and unsafe traffic conditions. The Highway network in Germany is mentioned as a good example in opposition to the US. They do not have speed limits but their accident rates are relatively low, and that might be due to the fact that they are used to driving in the right lane and leaving the left lane for other drivers to pass. What is your opinion on Taiwan’s case? Do you think Germany’s way suits us? Or do you think Taiwan’s traffic doesn’t require changes? These questions will be left to you, and as always, remember to click the button down below. Bye!

不過近來美國各地開始展開實際推廣運動,例如華盛頓、德州和俄亥俄州等州的警察只要看到內側車道的車開得太慢,都會直接開罰。
【心得】在台灣開太慢應該不會被罰,只是會被按喇叭而已吧!?
