NASA’s Parker Solar Probe

Named after astrophysicist Eugene N. Parker, who predicted the existence of solar wind in the 1950s when most scientists didn't believe him, the Parker Solar Probe is on a 1.5-billion-dollar mission and will fly through the sun's atmosphere. The spacecraft is working with another solar probe called the “Solar Orbiter” from the European Space Agency. This probe also cost 1.5 billion dollars with funding from both Europe and the US, and both of these spacecraft have strong heat shields to withstand extreme temperatures, similar to the Earth's atmosphere and the distance from the sun that protect us from burning.

“Space.com”, a news website dedicated to space and astronomy topics, says Parker Probe's shield will work to keep its instruments at a temperature of about 29°C, though the probe itself will face measurements of hundreds of degrees higher. The two separate probes will work together with complementary capabilities and viewpoints of the sun that help broaden the information they collect. Spring Break: Give Us a Break

Spring break comes in March every year for students in the U.S., but this year with the rising inflation, the Uber rides you take can cost as much as for an airplane ticket. For February, inflation was 7.9% higher than it was in February 2021, and that was its biggest increase in 40 years. But it's not just gas and groceries; the cost of renting a place to live was 17% higher in February than it was last year at that time according to “realtor.com”, and it means rent costs are at their highest level ever.

With Spring Break getting underway, inflation strikes on the prices of tickets for travel, events, and on restaurant menus as well, but there's so much pent-up (suppressed) demand to get out of the house following the lockdowns and restrictions related to COVID-19.

So, how are American families balancing inflation and entertainment? Take the Cabara family for example, who flew from Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Los Angeles for spring break. Once they arrived in LA, they soon realized how expensive things were and immediately decided not to rent a car. The average rental car in the US, according to Kayak, a traveling website, is $76 a day, more than $20 higher than what it was two years ago. However, even without a rental car, the Cabara family said they actually spent more money on Uber than flying to LA alone. Another family decided to scale back later, by having a big spring break and a smaller summer vacation instead. What can we say, times are tough.
