來挑戰一下Hunert的講稿^^ Good day, Voicetube listeners! Welcome to the Pronunciation Challenge! My name is Hubert, and I’ll be your host for today! In this episode, we’ll be talking about video games and whether or not they can make you smarter! I’ll give you the answer now. Yes, they do! I know, I know, I may be biased but this really worked for me! Let me bring you back. Back to a time when video games were just Super Mario and Street Fighter. That’s what games were for me. They were fun but they didn’t involve me using my imagination. It wasn’t until a game called Final Fantasy entered my life. It was Final Fantasy 3 (In Japan, Final Fantasy 3 was actually Final Fantasy 6) to be specific. This type of game was called an RPG or role playing game. I hated these games! Let me tell you why after you guys get to the featured sentence!
Did you guys get that? If you watched the video, it said that some dyslexic kids ended up reading faster and more accurately! That’s what I was trying to hint at in the beginning! I hated RPG’s because they involved a lot of reading. As a kid, that was the last thing I wanted to do. Then I played Final Fantasy 6 and I was so engaged in the story that I felt like I was one of the characters! I wanted to be in the story myself! I went from never reading to reading hours upon hours of text. It was like reading a novel and I was only 7 or 8 years old! Before I played these games, I was actually a horrible reader and speller. Then one day it just hit me and I could spell. I went from being one of the worst spellers in my classroom to one of the best. Looking back, I’m sure it was because of video games. Well, because of Final Fantasy to be exact. Thank you Squaresoft.
For the people who don’t know Squaresoft, you are too young. Ok guys, make sure to get your recordings in before leaving. Give your boy a follow on Instagram at hughtran_ if you want to see what I’m up to. Until the next episode, bye!

In this episode, we’ll be talking about video games and whether or not they can make you smarter! I’ll give you the answer now. Yes, they do! I know, I know, I may be biased (meaning I favor this opinion because this is personal to me) but this really worked for me! Let me bring you back. Today’s featured sentence: Video games provide a fun escape from reality, though they're often portrayed as violent, lazy, and a waste of time by some.
I’ll say that again.
Video games provide a fun escape from reality, though they're often portrayed as violent, lazy, and a waste of time by some.
Ok, now time for the Pronunciation Tips.
For the first word, we have Reality Four syllables. “RE” has a long E sound. “A” has a short A sound. “LI” has a short U sound. “TY” sounds like the letter T.
Next up, we have Often Two syllables Ok, I picked this one because this can be pronounced in two different ways. You can go with “OFTEN” or “OFFEN”. Both are ok.
Lastly, we have, Violent Two syllables. Don’t let the spelling fool you. English is awesome, isn’t it? “VIO” actually sounds like the “ie” combination, like “tie”. “Vie”. The second syllable, “LENT” has a short U sound. Violent.
Moving onto Vocabulary!
The first word is: 1. Reality Definition the state of things as they are, rather than as they are imagined to be Used in a sentence you could say, “My dream of being an actor has finally become a reality.”
Next word, 2. Portray Definition to represent or describe someone or something in a painting, film, book, or other artistic work Used in a sentence, you could say: “I would love to portray Bruce Lee in a film one day.”
And lastly, 3. Violent Definition: used to describe a situation or event in which people are hurt or killed Used in a sentence, you could say: “Video games are not as violent as you may think.”
