What’s up, VoiceTubers? Leila here. Can you imagine walking up to a stranger and saying something really horrible and mean to them just to make them mad? That sounds bizarre, right? Who would do that to someone’s face? But on the internet, behind a screen and keyboard, it’s a different story. You know who I’m talking about--trolls. I used to not understand them at all, but today’s video does a good job of explaining the way that they think. Check it out if you haven’t already. It’s easy to demonize trolls and think they are monsters, but as you’ll see in the video, they’re still human beings. It’s just that the internet allows the uglier parts of their personality to flourish...
...Which brings me to the Sentence of the Day:
The unfortunate part is that trolls not only comment more but receive more replies than the average user, suggesting they are quite successful at luring others in.
不幸的是,網路酸民不只留言比較多,還比一般用戶得到更多的回覆,顯示他們在誘使別人跟他們對話這方面還滿成功的。

The team was playing so well! It was really unfortunate that they lost in the end.
球隊打得很好! 只是他們最後輸了,真的很可惜。
Y’know, all this talk of internet trolls and the way that they think reminds me of the way that some kids bullied others when I was growing up. I remember when I was in elementary school, other kids were always bullying my best friend. My friend and I would be playing at recess, minding our own business, and then these jerks would come over and make fun of him. It would make me so mad that I’d yell at them and chase them away, but every time I’d come back to my friend, he’d simply tell me in a calm voice, "Ignore them, Leila. Let’s just play." Yeah, my friend was really wise beyond his years.
It is really unfortunate that the internet allows immature bullies to keep trolling people, but even if the internet didn’t exist, trolls would still exist. They would still be in our extended circle of friends, in our workplaces, in our communities looking to push our buttons just to get a rise out of us. It used to drive me crazy, but I get it now. It’s all a game to them--and the only way for us to win the game is by not playing.
What about you? Do you engage with internet trolls or can you just ignore them? Or are you a hidden troll in disguise? Let me know in the comments. And as always, hit that record button when you’re ready with your sentence. Catch ya next time. And remember, don’t feed the trolls!
