A recent survey found that 68 percent of large company CEOs plan to downsize their office space, and that will likely be a massive blow to major cities.
最近一項調查發現,68% 的大公司 CEO 計劃縮減辦公室面積,而這很可能會對主要城市造成巨大的衝擊。
Hong Kong had its first mass testing of COVID-19 earlier this month and they plan to test the whole population of more than 7 million people. However, a lot of people did not show up to take the test, and there were only 1.78 million people who took the test within the 14 days of mass testing. Pro-democracy activists worried that people's DNA could be sent to mainland China because Chinese experts helped set up the testing center. Although the number of participants for the testing was far less than expected, Hong Kong’s 14 day mass testing scheme ends with at least 32 COVID-19 carriers identified overall.
Now let’s move on to the topic of WFH, which stands for Work From Home.
Before the pandemic, only about 4 percent of the U.S. workforce works at home, halftime or more, and that’s about to change. The list of companies committed to some type of permanent work from home is growing, and many employees actually wish for that flexibility. People are already moving out of cities, in part because of COVID-19, but also because they think that in the future they're going to work from home and they want to live in a place that's cheaper.
【Question Time!】
What are the pros and cons of working from home? Would you prefer working from home, why and why not?
【結語】
Hey dear listeners, thanks for joining us. The reason why downsizing of office spaces is a big blow to major cities, Is because, with less people working in business areas, Fewer people will go shopping, dining, watching movies and even exercising in gyms. Leading to a chained reaction which results in the close down of small businesses. And without commerce, or business trading, big cities will no longer exist. That’s right, you’ve probably never thought that our society could be easily reshaped by a single disease. But, that is the fact which is happening at the moment.
