But I think what's beautiful is it allows the film to move in a fluid way, to transition to the next movie it needs to keep moving forward and I think, with Finnick, he's stuck in his little dark place back at District 13 so I think to keep coming back to him looking depressed would probably depress the audience. And this is much more of a emotional film anyway and I think there's enough to keep people wanting more, which I think is a good thing, hopefully. Well you seem like quite a smiley bloke so when I see you on the screen all depressed you're like, 'Awwh, poor Sam.' No, I think that's why I love delving into that side of the character. I mean, for me, I always love playing the vulnerable state of somebody and especially with Finnick, having the opportunity to portray the opposite end of the spectrum in the last movie, the fact that he's very charismatic and charming and the fact that he had this sort guard up, his defense mechanism is to, I suppose the Marilyn Monroe persona, he had a persona, which is what everyone knows and loves but this is the real Finnick and I think that was nice to get to the heart of that Finnick. To compare yourself to Marilyn Monroe, that's new. I get that all the time. It's not the first time I've heard it. Yeah, no, I- You know what I'm trying to say. I do know what you're saying. I was thinking, as I just mentioned to you, you've made a lot of movies this year and then you obviously promote all those films, does your wife say, 'Right, next year, Sam, I'd like to see a bit more of you.' Well, what's great about promoting film after film after film at the back end of this year it means that I've not been able to film anything which also then means I'll have nothing to promote next year, so I'm excited to be able to enjoy Christmas this year without having to go away and film or lose weight for anything in particular so I'm kind of looking to have a bit of downtime. That must be a nightmare if they schedule a movie where you've got to look hench over a period of Christmas where all you'd like to do is eat and drink. Has that happened? Well, it happened with Hunger Games last year and the year- Well, the year before I'd finished filming Catching Fire, I got back to my parents' house on Christmas Eve and I absolutely gorged myself over Christmas after being on a diet through Catching Fire and working out everyday, all day. It was a real opportunity for me to let loose. Let it all hang out. Yeah. Oh, I did. Can I quickly, you're from Ipswich but you went to school in Norwich, is that right? Yeah. I mean, I lived in Ipswich for a year so I don't really know- You're a Norwich boy. I'm a Norwich boy. Because a good friend of mine lives there now, he just moved there and I'm due a visit and I wasn't wild about the idea but you can help me get more excited for this. Eh. No, I love Norwich. Norwich is where my parents are still based, my oldest brother's based there, I have a lot of friends from school and I still have a lot to do with my old school because without them I wouldn't be here. Have they got a plaque with your name on yet? You know what, even more embarrassingly, I'm like a- not mirage, what's it called, a mural on a wall from like, floor to ceiling over two floors. No way. It's like the inspiration wall, I think the kids at the school were asked what they're biggest inspiration was, Ormiston Victory Academy of Costessey it's called, and it's basically they were all asked who their biggest inspiration was and most of them, I think a lot of them anyway, said that I was. Like, a boy from a local horrible school having his dreams come true, so it's hugely humbling. Boy done good.
