It left 49 people dead, which is the largest loss of life due to a terrorist attack on U.S. soil since 911.

I know everyone is angry right now and not really knowing how to react.

想必大家都怒不可遏，且又有些不知所措，

But this is a time where people are looking to us as a country, and how we will react.

但此時，美國為眾所矚目，大家靜候著我們的下一步

This country was built on the idea that we do not all agree on everything.

美國闡揚的思想之一便是：儘管眾人的想法大相逕庭，

That we are a tolerant, free nation, that encourages debate, free-thinking, believing (or not) in what you choose.

我們仍是個兼容並蓄、自由的國家，捍衛著言論、思想自由，且尊重個人抉擇

I, as a new father, am thinking, "What do I tell my kids? What do I tell them about this?

身為一個新手爸爸，我不斷地捫心自問：「我該跟孩子說些什麼？該怎麼解釋此事？

What can we learn from this?

我們從中記取的教訓為何？

What if my kids are gay?

若我的小孩是同性戀怎麼辦？

What do I tell them?”

我該如何應對？」

Maybe there's a lesson from all this.

或許，這能被視為前車之鑑，

A lesson in tolerance. We need to support each other's differences and worry less about our own opinions.

讓大家能夠藉此學會包容 我們得拋開成見、尊重彼此的差異

Get back to debate, and away from believing or supporting the idea that

並就事論事 同時必須認知到

if someone doesn't live the way you want them to live, you just buy a gun and kill them.

即便他人與我們的意見相左，不代表我們能夠拿把槍斃了他、

bomb them up

或是炸了他

That is not okay.

這成何體統！

we need to get back to being brave enough to accept that we have different opinions, and that's okay.

我們得接受每個人的想法迥異，且此點無傷大雅

Because that's what America is built on.

因為這就是美國的基礎：

The idea that we can stand up and speak our minds and live our lives,

我們能夠為自己發聲、安居樂業

and not be punished for that.

且不需為此付出代價、

Or mocked on the internet,

在網路上被抨擊、

or killed by someone you don't know.

或因此被陌生人殺戮

This is just one bad guy here.

49 個好人的性命

and 1 bad guy.

被區區一個壞人奪走

And there will always be more good than evil.

When I think of Orlando, I think of nothing but fun, and joy, and families.
