We have 15 grandkids and they are magic. They'e just... ha ha ha ha... They're just magic. Our family came about because we were both married before. Back in the day, if you came out as gay or lesbian, you weren't normal, you weren't human. So they would take you to a mental institution and start shocking your brain and telling you you were straight. I knew it all my life. I just kept it to the back of my head and I held out for my kids. I was honest with my ex, unfortunately, he looked at it as I was picking on his manlihood and because of that I lost my son and I've never seen him to this day. How amazing would life have been had we not had to question who we were all those years? It's all good. And now our grankids don't have to question who they are. We were asked if we would consider being the first gay couple to legally marry in New York state and I said: "Have you looked at us?" Ha ha ha! "We're not exactly cute!" 12 o'clock. Go. I now pronounce you legally married! Wooooooooo! Wooohooohoooo! They needed somebody who really understood when all those cameras were focussed on you, you have to be able to take that moment to tell the world why this was so important. You're so wonderful. My concern here, in New York, is that we're getting very apathetic about... Well, we've got marriage. We've got marriage, we're done. We're not done, we don't have trans rights in this state. Here, here. Did everybody get their dinner ordered before we go any further? There's so many people in this country that are still desperate, that are trying to secure rights for themselves and their families. The Supreme Court decision that's coming down, it weighs so heavy in the hearts of all of us. Has it been worth it? Well, yes, it has been worth it. It's been pretty tiring at times but it's been worth it. We're being treated more like... human beings. We're normal. We are really normal. So the struggle was worth it. Yes it was.
