  • Hi.

  • Welcome to show me the curry dot com.

  • I'm Hittle and the holidays are right around the corner.

  • So it's a perfect time to show you a really quick and easy appetizer.

  • Now, the problem with the holidays is you go out there and you go to all these spreads and they're all wonderful, of course.

  • But after a while, all the ingredients, all the little items and appetizers, they start looking the same.

  • And that's like, huh?

  • Been there, done that.

  • It's kind of boring.

  • But today I'm gonna show you an appetizer, which you see quite often, but we're just gonna put a little twist to it and make it just a little pop in there.

  • And people are gonna be like that tastes different.

  • And that's what we're looking for.

  • So I know you've all seen pineapple and cheese served as appetizers.

  • Usually it's a toothpick with a piece of pineapple, a piece of cheese, a cube and either an olive or a grape.

  • And they've layered it out, you know, and a nice platter.

  • And it looks really pretty and it tastes great.

  • It's a good combination of ingredients, but today what we're gonna do is We're gonna take that pineapple and kick it up a notch.

  • And, um, let's see, let's see what we're gonna do.

  • So for this recipe, you wanna use fresh pineapple.

  • If you absolutely have to use the can, you can get away with it.

  • But, you know, I'm gonna go ahead and say it, you know, use the fresh if you can, and like me.

  • And this time I went to the store and I actually didn't find a whole pineapple because, you know, they were just not available.

  • But luckily, the grocery store had, um, pretty cut fresh pineapple.

  • So that's the next best thing.

  • You could definitely use that.

  • So this pineapple, of course, is is cut into big, big chunks and for appetizers, for appetizers.

  • You really don't want this big of a peace because you really want something singing slippery something that pop into your mouth and one bite, maybe two small bites, and that should be it.

  • So you can take big chunks of pineapple and just cut them down.

  • Or your other option, of course, is you can go ahead and mash it up and make it into like a pulp so that this recipe can be put on top of a cracker or something like that in a in a nice little mound of pineapple.

  • So either way it works.

  • You decide what you want to do.

  • We're gonna keep it in little chunks like this.

  • So they're bite size.

  • So we have a few of our pineapple pieces head into chunks.

  • I'm just gonna put him in a little bowl here.

  • And what's going to give this pineapple a really unique flavor is ginger root.

  • Now, ginger is one of those things.

  • If you use just a hint of it, it gives it a flavor like people you know, just like what is that?

  • And that's really what you're going for.

  • You don't want an overpowering, but you went that something extra, something special about your recipe.

  • So if you're not opposed to having ginger fiber and, like I'm not in, a lot of people are not.

  • Then you can just go ahead and great the ginger straight into your pineapple.

  • But if you are and you don't like the little fibrous ginger than what you can do is just great it separately and just kind of squeeze out the juice and then pour the juice in here.

  • And that's gonna give it a nice ginger flavour.

  • And it's not gonna give you the fibers, so either way, it works.

  • Fine.

  • So just a bit of ginger and you do wanna nice, fine, great.

  • And our next ingredient is red onions.

  • Now, again, this is one of those things that you convince us down and kind of incorporate the whole thing into the pineapple.

  • Or what I like to do is make nice thin strips of it so that when you're actually plating this, you can see nice long strips of that red onion, and it really gives it a nice presentation.

  • So just cut him very thin or thin as you possibly can, just a few of them.

  • And we're gonna add that to our pineapple.

  • So far, simple.

  • And here we go.

  • Now we have a green chili and a red chili again, totally optional, but fantastic in this recipe, if you're these air Thai chilies, but you know, you confined Ah, milder chili also like a jalapeno or something like that.

  • And just chop it up finally.

  • And, uh, what kind of give you the flavor without a lot of the heat.

  • And the reason I'm picking a green and a red is we eat with our eyes and you you want a lot of color in this recipe just so that when your guests are sitting there with a lot of choices, they're gonna pick this one just cause it's gonna look so pretty that goes in.

  • And we also have some salt on the pineapple has a natural sweetness to it, so you don't have to add any sugar.

  • But if you want it, ah, sweetened kind of tangy flavor.

  • You can add a pinch of sugar and there as well.

  • And finally we have some lime juice that's gonna give it a nice freshness.

  • Look at that.

  • It's already looking so pretty.

  • Okay, so now we're gonna do is kind of mix this up.

  • And if you have the time, if you let it marinate for about an hour, so the pineapple just kind of soaks up all the flavors and, you know, the entire pineapple is really flavorful.

  • But even if you don't have a lot of time, it's okay.

  • You can just makes us through and serve it as a quick, fast, easy appetizer.

  • So now that we got a pineapple all, uh, spice eat and flavorful, what we're gonna do is serve this as a little appetizer.

  • So we have some cheese here.

  • You can use any kind of cheese you like.

  • This cheese is is one of those, um, hot pepper cheeses that has a little bit of kick on its own.

  • But because this is already going to be a little bit of spicy, you can even use, like, Monterey Jack or Colby.

  • Jack, something a lot milder cheddar.

  • Any good cheese will work.

  • And, ah, a couple of different options we have.

  • If you want to serve it like on a platter like this, we can take small slices of these cheeses and just kind of layer them there.

  • And then we can take our pineapples kind of place them on top.

  • Now, the thing with these pineapples is there's a lot of flavor going on in here, and they may not all translate in here.

  • So a couple of these things you can just put on top yourself like these little slivers of onions.

  • They look so pretty and makes the whole thing look very appetizing.

  • I think so or the other option is.

  • You can cube the cheese like this and you can take toothpicks.

  • Just cure it.

  • Take a piece of your pineapple security so forth, and we have these little individual trays like this.

  • You can just lay it on top of that, and people can have it like this.

  • It's a couple of different options, but ah, in the end, it's a very simple appetizer.

  • You can literally throw this together in a matter of minutes before your guests arrive, so there's no pre making nothing.

  • But if you want to pre make it, you know, go ahead and marinated a little ahead of time, and then it's ready to go when your guests are.

  • So there you go a very, very simple, very quick appetizer idea for these coming holiday season.
