  • I would say the biggest problem in today's society when it comes to sleep is they just don't prioritise sleep.

  • Most people tell me I'll sleep when I'm dead, and I used to let them know that's gonna happen a lot quicker than you might imagine.

  • Well, I think we do live in a very sleep deprived society on guy.

  • Think people don't start to recognize how important sleep is until they can't get it.

  • So as soon as they get into a situation where they're having trouble sleeping or the quality of their sleep changes, that's when people start to really amp up and get worried about the amount and the quality of sleep that they're getting.

  • It's unbelievable how many people have sleep problems.

  • I mean, the data now would suggest upwards of 70 to 90 million people, at least just in the United States, have got some issue asleep.

  • Sleep effects, every organ system and every disease state, literally everything you do, you do better with a good night's sleep.

  • We know that weight loss is directly related to sleep.

  • We know that performance from an athletic standpoint is directly related to sleep.

  • We know that performance in the workplace is directly related to sleep.

  • Mental health is another big area.

  • The more sleep deprived you are, the more depressed you are.

  • The more anxious you are.

  • Anything you do, I promise you, you do better with a good night's sleep.

  • You cannot have wellness without sleep.

  • It's simply not possible.

  • Think a lot of people have a tendency to put money over sleep simply because they just keep working, working, working.

  • You know, you never hear anybody say, Gosh, I wish I got more sleep.

  • What you hear people say, is I want to work more.

  • I want to, you know, spend more time with my family, those types of things.

  • So what ends up happening is sleep kind of gets whittled down, and then what you're left with is what you're left with.

  • Well, what I want to do is I want people to get just get a little bit better sleep.

  • I'm not going to say that Everybody needs to go and get 7 to 9 hours.

  • Everybody needs to stop caffeine.

  • Everybody needs to stop alcohol.

  • I don't believe in that.

  • Because number one I wouldn't listen.

  • What I think we need to do is we, as a society and specifically sleep society.

  • We need to really meet people where they are and teach them what they need to know.

  • Toe slowly begin to improve their sleep so that they get motivated to be great sleepers.

  • I like to teach people about sleep because I think it's probably one of the most effective things that I can do.

  • Nobody's ever been taught about sleep in their lives, and I think that if I can teach them about it now, we can see real dividends in the future.

  • I think what I'm bringing to the table when we're talking about this quest is actionable knowledge.

  • You know, I could talk about all kinds of different neurochemistry and neurobiology and all that kind of fun stuff.

  • But what my real goal here is is to give you the information that you're looking for in a way, shape and form, that you could do something with immediately and have a great effect on your overall sleep.

  • Everything you do, you do better with a good night's sleep.
