Today’s video is a story written and narrated by a really funny American woman who goes by the name Chescaleigh, and it comes with super cute illustrations by Kat Blaque. You should check it out because it’s a very sweet video about two friends – a snail and a caterpillar. At first, the caterpillar was getting impatient with his snail friend for not being able to fit through the bottom of the fence. He later realized that everyone has their own struggles and challenges. We tend to often focus on our own struggles and burdens in life, and feel it is unfair that other people around us seem to have it easy! However, the truth is that we honestly cannot see what other people are going through! Someone who is smiling on the outside might not be happy at all. That perfect wife who married into a wealthy family looks like she is living a glamorous lifestyle, but perhaps she is feeling trapped because her in-laws are giving her so much pressure. The young man sitting down in the priority seat on the MRT may look perfectly healthy to you, perhaps he is feeling really ill that day and feels faint in the head. A lot of time it can be hard to see what someone else is dealing with because you’ve never been in their shoes (or shell).

Talking about everyone going through their own battles, I immediately thought of the Korean drama that I’ve been watching lately called “Our Blues”. The series revolves around the people living on Jeju island, everyone has their own unique personalities and each has their own bitter-sweet story. Life is riddled with ups and downs, that’s for sure. Let’s enjoy the good times and not get discouraged when things get tough. C’est la vie (that’s life), as the French say!
