Have you ever been bullied, or been subject to physical or verbal abuse? Or do you know someone who has been through, or is going through this kind of experience? If so, today’s video will resonate with you. It certainly resonated with me. I have a lot of things to say about my own experiences with bullying, but I’ll save those for later. For now, let’s look at today’s featured sentence:
Sentence:
And I decided to become a trainer and inspire and motivate other people, and I just fell in love with that as well.

Pronunciation Tips:

Blended words - as well
Trainer - r sounds, long a
Vocabulary:
1. motivate (v.) KK[ˋmotə͵vet] IPA/ˈməʊtɪveɪt/

Outro
And that brings us to the end of today’s pronunciation challenge. I don’t usually talk about this, but I was bullied for several years in elementary school. I dealt with it by withdrawing to the basement to play with my toys and my computer. I didn’t talk about it with adults because I was scared that the bullies would find out, and I’d have even more problems. If I could talk to my childhood self, I would encourage him to talk about his problems with his family, and with the teachers. I would let him know that while it may not seem like it at times, they really do care about him and they have the power to make changes. I know this because in my eighth year, for reasons unrelated to bullying, my family moved to a different neighborhood and I went to a different school. In that year, I became generally well-liked and popular, and I made some really good friends, some of whom I still have, over thirty years later. As a kid, I always blamed myself for the bullying and felt like I just wasn’t good enough or cool enough. But of course, now I realize that it wasn’t my fault. But enough about me, I want to hear from you if you are comfortable sharing with us! What are your experiences with bullying? Do you have any stories to share? Let me know in the comments below, and don’t forget to do your recording. I’m Jonathan from VoiceTube. I’ll catch you next time!
