Hey folks, Ken here. Today, we’re gonna talk about tech in 100 years. Technology nowadays is constantly evolving, providing us with a more convenient and efficient lifestyle. However, what do you picture that we’ll be seeing within 100 years? 100 years ago, people said that we’ll have flying cars in the 21st century, but...that’s not even close to what we have now, maybe we’ll have to wait for another 100 years for that to actually happen. Think back 100 years ago, electricity had pretty much just been invented. Movies had no sound, and even carrier pigeons were still being used to deliver letters. Things have come a long way since then, which makes us wonder, what will technology look like in the next 100 years?

VR and AR technologies have been vastly used in recent years, but what about brain-linked VR? It doesn't exist just yet, but it's thought that this could run directly through your brain, by passing biological sensory systems, creating artificial experiences of touch, smell, and maybe even taste. It could construct an alternate reality so realistic that you mix up what's real and what's not.

What’s more, the homes that you live in will be pretty different too. People are expecting that we'll be 3D printing incredible homes and even making them foldable and transportable! The hope is that 3D printing in general will allow us to print literally anything we need. How convenient that is! Imagine when you need to fix something and you don’t have a certain tool, you can basically print out a hammer, a screwdriver or a wrench. Also, before taking a test when you realize that you need a 2B pencil but a 7-11 is too far, what do you do? You print it out! If you ask me what I would like to print, I’d like to try printing some… dollar bills. Shh! Don’t ask why.

And now here’s our sentence of the day:

Flying cars, once thought to be a thing of just science fiction, are actually progressing at lightning speed.

[Vocabulary words]

1. once
One single time

Ex: I went bungee jumping once, and I loved it a lot.

2. fiction
A story that is written about imaginary characters and events and not based on real people and facts

Ex: “Sci-Fi” is the abbreviation for Science Fiction.
“Sci-Fi” 就是科幻電影的簡稱。

*Movie you can watch: “Stranger than fiction”.
Mainly about a guy who realized that he’s actually a character in a book and later on met with his creator, the real-life author of the book. Starring Will Ferrell and Emma Thompson.

3. lightning
a flash of bright light in the sky that is produced by electricity moving between clouds or from clouds to the ground
Ex: That old tree was struck by lightning.

Alright that’s all the time we have for today.
What kinds of inventions or technology can you foresee in the decade or century to come?
I’m ready to listen to some creative answers.
Leave a comment down below and let me know!

Flying cars, once thought to be a thing of just science fiction, are actually progressing at lightning speed.

Hey folks, Ken here. Today, we’re gonna talk about tech in 100 years. Technology nowadays is constantly(持續adv.) evolving(發展,進化v.), providing us with a more convenient and efficient(有效率的) lifestyle. However, what do you picture(想像v.) that we’ll be seeing within 100 years? 100 years ago, people said that we’ll have flying cars in the 21st century, but...that’s not even close to what we have now, maybe we’ll have to wait for another 100 years for that to actually happen. Think back 100 years ago, electricity had *pretty much(差不多) just been invented(發明v.). Movies had no sound, and even *carrier pigeons(傳信鴿) were still being used to deliver letters. Things have come a long way since then, which makes us wonder, what will technology look like in the next 100 years? VR(虛擬實境Virtual Reality) and AR(擴增實境Augmented/ɑːɡˈment/ Reality) technologies have been vastly(龐大地) used in recent years, but what about brain-linked(連結大腦的) VR? It doesn't exist *just yet(現在還), but it's thought that this could run(運轉v.) directly through your brain, by passing biological(生物的) sensory systems(感覺系統), creating artificial(人工的) experiences of touch, smell, and maybe even taste. It could construct an alternate(/ˈɑːl.tɝː.nət/替代的) reality(/riˈæl.ə.t̬i/真實n.) (that) so realistic(/ˌriː.əˈlɪs.tɪk/栩栩如生的) that you *mix up(搞錯) what's real and what's not. What’s more, the homes that you live in will be pretty different too. People are expecting that we'll be 3D printing incredible(難以置信的) homes and even making them foldable(/ˈfoʊl.də.bəl/可折疊的) and transportable(/trænsˋpɔ:təbl/可運送的)! The hope is that 3D printing in general will allow us to print literally(/ˋlitərəli/實在地) anything we need. How convenient that is! Imagine when you need to fix something and you don’t have a certain tool(工具), you can basically print out a hammer(榔頭), a screwdriver(螺絲起子) or a wrench(/rentʃ/板手). Also, before taking a test when you realize that you need a 2B pencil but a 7-11 is too far, what do you do? You print it out! If you ask me what I would like to print, I’d like to try printing some… *dollar bills(美元鈔票). Shh! Don’t ask why.

☺Flying cars, once thought to be a thing of just science fiction, are actually progressing at lightning speed.
■once [wʌns] (conj.) 便
(adv.)
(n.C or U)虛構的事;謊言
