I had my little conference badge around my neck, I had my big conference binder under my arm, everything was going good.

Why don't you just give it a try? You have nothing to lose, anyway.

Happy Birthday Winnie!

Dear Winnie

#I think there are this type of people in my workplace, I don't feel vulnerable at all though. I just see them as being snobbish.

I had my little CONFIDENCE badge around my neck, I had my big CONFIDENCE binder under my arm, everything was going good.

I had my little conference badge around my neck, I had my big conference binder under my arm, everything was going good.

Happy birthday to Super Star Winnie!!

⋯ Finally it’s my birthday, yes, on this very day, September the first. I’ve always loved my birthday ‘cause it’s the very first day in September number one. But then l also kinda hate it because it’s in the summer time, nobody rememberes. And when the school starts, everyone is usually sad about summer ended. And sometimes you got a new bunch of classmates, no one really knows who you are and nobody even cares. But it’s okay, I just get people to celebrate *for me, like I call them up and I just ask them to go Karaoke and dinner. That way I can make sure I won’t be lonely on my birthday. And another very annoying thing about me is that I guess what people are thinking too early. Every time when someone tries to surprise me, it doesn’t work ‘cause most of the time I know what people are up to and even if they pull it off. I have high standards. I appreciate their efforts, but again, it’s not giving me that “WOW ~”. Yap, it’s me, super annoying Winnie. So I don’t blame people for not wanting to throw me a party or something or give me cards or whatever. And I have a fragile heart, I don’t want to feel disappointed, so I never expect anything and I just celebrate my birthday myself.

What do we have here today? The video that we will watch today has nothing to do with my birthday. It’s called “ Thank you for not believing in me”. I want to use this video to encourage all of you to be strong and fight for yourself, believe in yourself, even one others don’t. And the end of the show, I’ll tell you a little bit about myself, you’ll know my story. And I hope I can inspire you to do what you love and eventually become the person you want to be. Why don’t we go through our sentence of the day? Here it goes.

I had my little conference badge around my neck, I had my big conference binder under my arm, everything was going good.

Now we’re done with our sentence today. It’s time to move on to the vocabulary.

Conference is a noun. Conference is an event, sometimes lasting a few days, at which there is a group of talks on a particular subject, or a meeting in which especially business matters are discussed formally.

Have you booked the conference room for tomorrow’s meeting?

Badge is a noun. Badge is a small piece of metal, plastic, cloth, etc., with words or pictures on it, that you can carry with you or that is fastened or sewn to your clothing, often to show your support for a political organization or belief, or to show who you are, your rank, or that you are a member of a group, etc. So the word badge is actually used *at two ways. So the first way is, for example, a piece of metal, plastic *_ that’s sewn to your clothing. Let’s say for police badge. So when the police comes to you, when a police approaches to you, you would say “Can you show me your police badge?” Or the other kind of badge is that more like a name tag or a piece of paper, plastic *_ when you wear around your neck, it can show to the security that you belong in a conference room or this party or something.

Everyone needs a badge with their name on to enter the conference room.

Binder is a noun, which is a hard cover in which paper documents or magazines are stored. Or not just paper documents or magazines, sometimes you can put in maybe your pen, ruler, eraser. You can put in things like that.

Mom, the teacher asked us to bring a binder to school tomorrow. Can you take me to Staples to get one?

*In the growing up, my dad, my relatives, they’ve never been nice to me. By that I mean, they’ve never said any positive to me. They’ve never believed in me. They’re always doubting me. I’m just gonna be honest with you, they said a lot of hurtful things, it’s like you want me to fail, it hurts a lot, it’s very sad. I always try very hard to prove myself. But no matter what I do, I’m never good enough. I didn’t give up. To me, if I continue to work hard, if I just continue to move forward, I’m gonna get *close(closed?) to my dream, and one day I’m gonna prove they’re wrong. So people, don’t get discouraged, never give up, just keep doing you, keep doing what you like. And one day, you’re gonna succeed.
That’s all for today’s pronunciation challenge. Thank you for listening. Thank you for tuning in.

Happy Birthday to our favorite host, Winnie.
